The Big Community Constellation on IEC 2018, part #1 – Diana Claire Douglas

Harvesting the All Community International Constellation Process

by Diana Claire Douglas

The day had finally arrived for the All Community International Constellation Process — affectionally known as The Big Community Constellation (BCC). It was Friday, May 25, 2018 in the evening — day four of the seven-day Integral European Conference2018 held at Hotel Azur, Siofok, Hungary. Although I was also involved in other presentations, this was why I had really come to the conference. It was time for all the planning and preparation by the facilitation team — Bence Ganti, Barbara von Meibom, Peter Kemény, Brigitte Wingelmayr, and me, Diana Claire Douglas — to gather with the participants and explore the theme: Restoring Peace in Europe.

In order to harvest this powerful and moving event, I have spent the last several months slowly looking at the 40 pages of written feedback from the representatives, re-watching many times the 3-hours plus video tapes of the process, interviewing some participants and facilitators, and letting this whole process “cook” in me. What could I possibly do with all this information? It came to me to write a series of blogs which will be published over time. I have a number of themes I imagine I will be covering in these blogs. And to be truthful, I expect that more will emerge as I write!

What is the All Community International Constellation Process?

“Constellation process” refers to a process known as Systemic Constellation Work (SCW). SCW is a philosophy, a body of teachings, and an experiential and embodied process used to explore questions or issues, to test propositions and to design with the emerging future. Facilitators from around the world are using this process in a multitude of ways to explore individual, family, organizational, community and global issues.1 This constellation was a collective constellation on behalf of Europe, calling together representatives of regions and nations of the world to support our exploration of “Restoring Peace in Europe.”

There were approximately 400 people in the room participating in the process in a variety of ways: as named representatives, as un-named representatives, as witnesses, and as conscious witnesses.

The four-hour process over the evening happened in stages:

a. the preparation: nations gathering in nation groups and singing a song together

b. setting the field: concentric circles around an empty and sacred center. European nations closest to the center, then other global nations on the outer circle. These represented the global community witnessing the European process. Six Conscious Witnesses stood in the West, North, North-east, South-east and East, as “pillars” for the container. A meditation by Bence and an outline of the “rules” for Constellation Work by Peter.

c. choosing the 48 named representatives: Gaia, Spirits of Peace and of War, Soul of Europe, Love; the people from the European Regions — North, West, East, South, Central Europeans; the People from the Continents —Africans, Asians, North and South Americans, Australians; Supportive Energies —Consciousness, Self-esteem + Forgiveness, Respect, Diversity, Culture, Safety, Abundance, Beauty, Dignity, Responsibility; and Adverse Energies — Fear, Exclusion, Shame, Dogmatism, Disrespect, Greed, Dishonesty, Capitalism, Colonialism, Nationalism, Terrorism; and Group Energies — Masculine, Feminine, Mothers, Fathers, Children, Ancestors, Migrants, Religions, Politicians.

d. Round 1: these representatives moved into the field and moved and engaged with each other. The facilitators were present and walking the field and not directing the movements.

e. Healing Process using Ho’oponopono prayer.

f. Round 2: Representatives from European Nations invited to move into the center.

g. Round 3: Anyone who felt a call to help with the healing was invited to enter.

There was a structure to the process (the preparation and the 3 rounds) and there was a free-flow of movement within the process, called Integral Free Flow by Bence Ganti. Except when the representatives were asked to report their experience (after Round 1 and before the Ho’oponopono prayer), no or few words were spoken by the representatives, while both silence and music were used throughout the process.

To participate in such a large group coming together on behalf of Peace in Europe was deeply moving. To let go of knowing as a facilitator, to experience the chaos and then order that came in waves, to watch the many movements that happened within the Field and emerged from the Field…this was a blessing!

2 Ho’oponopono prayer is a Hawaiian prayer of forgiveness and reconciliation: “I am sorry. Please forgive me. I love you. Thank you.”
