Budapest, a Must-See Gem of Europe

The Hungarian capital deserves to be called a city with a living history. A true gem of a city in the EU, Budapest has it all: from tribal red to medieval blue, from modern orange to postmodern green, it has a rich and thick memetic layer of history and culture. As a spa city, Budapest is more than the sum of its bathing facilities, as it offers a unique blend of Roman, Turkish and European bathing cultures. Budapest is no longer limited to restaurants, outdoor terraces and coffee houses, but features a cuisine consisting of a blend of traditional Hungarian flavours and the latest dining trends. Budapest is also a peaceful meeting point of religions and cultures, a coexistence of the spiritual heritage of East and West. It’s is a melting pot of wide-ranging subcultures, making it worth a visit—a familiar and safe metropolis with a human face that also offers a wealth of novelties, experiences and surprises for open-minded visitors.

Meet the Team

Bence Gánti
Community Guide

Bence, director of the IEC and the Integral Academy, has two decades of experience guiding individuals and groups psycho-spiritually. Bence has himself travelled throughout Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Jeff Salzman of the Daily Evolver, a participant in the first community bus tour wrote: Bence leads from both the heart and the head. He is as comfortable talking theory as he is directing a large group process, or leading a drumming circle in the woods. It is never about gaining attention for himself, rather it is about creating a richer experience for the participant.

István Zsolt Barát
Spiritual Guide

István is the founder and leader of the Hungarian Four Elements School (2008) and the Fire Elementer Skole (2013) in Norway, he has been holding song circles for 15 years and has made four music albums as a composer, lyricist and performer. Honorary member, master of ceremonies, advisor of the Norwegian Shamanic Association.

Bus ride to Kaposmérő, Kassai-valley

During a 1,5 hour bus ride to Kassai-valley you'll have a chance to learn about Lajos Kassai, the world-famous Hungarian horseback archer and his way to become a supporter of the integral approach, recognizing the necessity of integrating ancient, modern and postmodern in a unifying frame.The atmosphere in the Kassai-valley is defined by free range farming and the abundance of animals living in harmony.

The world-famous Hungarian horseback archer opens his doors to the integral community, demonstrating the ancient Hun shooting and spiritual training system, followed by a round table conversation. Kassai created the world federation of this unique art, and his ancient tribal bows and arrows are used worldwide, also in Bhutan. His students include Arabic kings, Matt Damon and many sport associations in the EU, US and Asia.

During the bus ride to Hévíz you'll have a chance to learn about Hungarian and European realities that you usually don't get through news and guide books. Learn in-person from IEC's director and Integral Academy's founder Bence Gánti and also listen to local stories with an integral narrative about life and the experience of living in Central Europe and in the EU today.

Experience the world's largest peat-bed spa lake that is in Hungary! A captivatingly tranquil place surrounded by lush green forests, where everything is about relaxation. You bathe in turquoise thermal waters. This dream world is in Hévíz.

Experience a real Central European Castle! Founded in the Middle Ages, one of Hungary’s oldest towns and is widely regarded as the Lake Balaton region’s cultural, economic, and educational capital. Keszthely’s majestic Festetics Palace, a Baroque-style castle dating back to the 18th century, is similar to its sister castles in Vienna and the region, with typical Hungarian falvour.

Traditional Hungarian cuisine here in Keszthely is influenced by the lake’s bounty, with fish-based dishes such as the famous Halászlé (fisherman’s soup) taking center stage.

Buddhist monk Bop Jon from South Korea had the idea in the early 1990s to establish a Buddhist shrine in one of the former socialist countries. As soon as researches had shown that the hill had never been inhabited before construction works financed by donations had started. The stupa was finished in 1992 and inaugurated by 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyaco himself on June 17, 1993. The stupa also called as the Peace Stupa of Zalaszántó is 30 meters high with a diameter of 24 meters.

The Bakony Mountains lie in the very heart of Transdanubia, the most versatile part of Hungary. Its isolation, densely forested ridges, small closed basins and medieval fortresses and monasteries have protected the local inhabitants and cultural treasures over the course of many stormy centuries. Halfway to the capital city of Hungary we are going to stop here for a break and have sandwich lunch in the nature.

Buda’s Castle District is rich in historic sights and attractions like the Royal Palace, the Matthias Church, Fisherman's Bastion, medieval houses, interesting museums, charming crooked streets following the shape of the hill, as well as some good cafés and restaurants. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Besides the monuments, you get a breathtaking panorama of the Danube with the Chain Bridge and the Pest side of the city on the opposite side of the river.

Enjoying a Budapest dinner cruise is a real treat to the eyes, the mind and the palate. Sights, lights, delicious dinner! The breathtaking view along the River Danube has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1987. From the historic Castle District on the Buda side to the iconic Parliament on the Pest side, the scenery between Margaret Bridge and Liberty Bridge is simply unforgettable.

Pilis Mountains is both a popular hiking destination and a noted spiritual place for the Hungarians. It's proximity to Budapest makes it a perfect place to immerse in silence, meditation, and retreats or do sport activities.

We will visit a very special site in the fmaous, and spiritually noted Pilis-Mountains. Taking an electric Eco-bus through winding forest roads, we reach the otherworldy site of the Hungarian Air Defence Missile Brigade's former camp, that had its medium-range anti-aircraft missile fires station hidden in the forest, protecting Budapest, during here in the cold war era. It was active until 1995, when it was dismantled and abandoned. Now tourist trails run through it, and lead to the biggest lookout tower of the region, named after the mideval hermit-saint of the Pilis-Mountains. Experience this bizarre combination of medieval saintlyhood, 20th centruy cold war remains, and 21st century technology, offering one of the best views of Central Europe and Hungary in 360 degrees! After the panorama experience we descend on the slopes for a pleasanat hike, having more stunning was before reaching our bus.

With its romantic garden room and terrace, it faithfully reproduces the magical atmosphere of Szentendre. The restaurant was built in the 60's and has been open to its guests ever since. This building has always been an important social venue for the city.

Szentendre is characterised by the spirit of multi-ethnic and religious tolerance, urban resilience and creativity since the end of the 17th century, deriving from its cross-border location. The connections along the Danube river and the prolific cohabitation of its Hungarian and Serbian population and other cultures resulted in a place of peaceful coexistence, integration and productive exchange, shaping a unique architectural design. The blending of Eastern and Western cultures in an emblematic locality of artistic freedom during totalitarian regimes determines the spirit of the town and the living heritage can still be experienced today.

The Magical Mystery Tour is a 3-day, 4-quadrant event filled with unexpected and delightful twists and turns through the beautiful landscape of Hungary. You will experience a “stages of consciousness” tour as you journey through magenta, red, amber, orange, green, and teal layers of European and Hungarian culture, and local integralists will share with you their individual and collective interiors, their stories and sagas. Bence Gánti, master tour guide, will introduce you to places and people you most certainly would not have found any other way, and a professional tour guide will fill in the historical details of the cultural and spiritual sites you visit. Traveling with you on the bus will be 65 conference participants, including keynote speakers, and there will be many opportunities for building community with your fellow journeyers—sharing traditional meals, relaxing in the spa, chatting on the bus—as well as opportunities to sink into a peaceful, pleasant space of your own while looking out the window or slipping away with your camera to catch a gold-rose Hungarian sunset.
