Q: Where and how can I buy tickets and register for the conference?

A: Please use our registration page. Based upon your choices it will put all the items in your cart. You can review your order before you purchase at the check-out page.

Q: Can I book a conference ticket and stay outside of the conference hotel?

A: In the last weeks we have received numerous requests to decouple the conference ticket purchase from the obligation to stay at the conference hotel Azúr. While 115 € / day  is a reasonable price for 4-star quality (including all meals and tourism tax) for Western standards, it places a financial burden on people from other economic zones or circumstances, making it hard for them to participate in the conference.

We expect conference participants to stay at Hotel Azúr for several reasons. Having everybody in the same place will deepen the community experience of the event. Staying at the hotel also saves the hassle and lost time walking to distant accommodations in the relatively large city of Siófok, or renting a car unnecessarily that ends up costing more than staying with us. We also have a contract with the hotel which allows us to use all of the hotel facilities (including the ballroom, restaurant and large wellness area) while we guarantee that a certain number of rooms will get booked with conference guests.

While we still believe the reasoning makes sense, and we recommend staying at the hotel and not outside, we want to honor those who have told us they can’t come if we don’t allow them to look for a cheaper place to stay. We want to give everyone the chance to come, so we are now giving the option of decoupling the conference ticket from accommodation.

Additionally, we offer the option to pre-order meals at the Hotel Azúr for conference guests who choose to stay outside. This way the communal experience of “breaking bread together” can still be cultivated and there is no need to come and go during the day.

Q: What other accommodations options do I have?

We will do some research into local options and give a list of recommendations for various cheaper options. (For example, the popular “Zimmer frei” guesthouse option typically ranges as low as 10-15 € per night.) Stay tuned to this page.

Q: Are there meal-packages for non-Azúr guests?

In our ticket wizard we offer the option to pre-order meal packages in the conference hotel for conference guests who choose to stay outside. This way the communal experience of “breaking bread together” can still be cultivated and there is no need to come and go during the day.

Q: What is “ÁFA” ?

A: “ÁFA” is the Hungarian name for VAT (value added tax). All shopping cart items are displayed without tax, with “ÁFA” added in the end.  The ÁFA/ VAT only shows up during the checkout for billing purposes. All the prices listed on our Details page and during the registration process are the end-prices, with tax included.

Q: How can I order a Full Experience Ticket as a presenter?

A:  Presenters cannot book the Full Experience package like regular guests, but their overall discount will likely be equal to / bigger than the Full Experience discount.

Simply piece together the elements of the Full experience by buying everything except for the Basic Conference ticket. This one you buy later, once you know your slot and your discount code.

For hotel choose the 5 nights double room option to be covered from preconference until the tour. You can also add the single room option for 5 nights, if you want to stay alone in a double-room.

Q: What food options do I have in the hotel?

A: There will be non-vegetarianvegetarian and vegan options at the buffet. We will do our best to cater to your specific needs. The hotel kitchen prioritizes locally produced food from the region.

For all conference hotel guests breakfast, lunch, dinner are included. Apart from coffee breaks (that are open to all conference guests) drinks are notincluded in the price.

Q: I want to apply as a presenter via your form. When the page says characters/letters does it mean words?

A: No. It means “characters/ letters”. Really. Try to keep it concise and essential. You can optionally upload support material (e.g. papers, pdfs, references, CV, multimedia files) if you have more to say or show. While we cannot guarantee that we will review all of the support material that people hand in we guarantee that we review each and every application.

Q: Do you have any recommendations for creating posters?

A: The IEC will feature a constant poster-exhibition. This is a great way for you to be present with your work. Posters can be handed in independently or parallel to your contributions for any of the other tracks.
