DAY1: MAY, 22 TUESDAY

SECTIONS AND WORKSHOPS

Our Reality in the Mirror of Archetypes -with aspect of shadow and non-duality mind

Using archetypes, we will look into themes which eternally generate interest, such as the inner man and inner woman (animus and anima), the dynamisms between perpetrators and victims which was amplified in the #metoo campaign as well, the secrets and the silence engulfing violence and rape, meeting and integrating our own shadow personalities and torn off soul parts, questions of identity in the theme of masculinity and femininity, also referring to the fact that men can also become victims of violence by women. We will circumambulate these themes in a joint constellation session, which will start as an ancient story about Adam and Eve.
Another aspect of mirroring will be supported by a technological solution. The session will be projected in real time upon the wall using a camera, and participants will be able to view their own physical manifestations any minute, which could bring more insights to them. The session will be accompanied by live music.

Let’s have better conversations and enter the co-creation space!

9/10 conversations miss the mark. Human interactions are complex and neuroscience gives us new insights and keys to enable conversations that matters, have impact and make us feel better and deeply connected. We will talk and experiment neuroscience’ based Conversational Intelligence®, based on the work of the amazing Judith E. Glaser. How our brain works, what happens when we get triggered by fear, How to identify and improve our interaction dynamics in teams are some of the questions we will address.
Achieving greatness depends on the quality of the culture, which depends on the quality of relationships, which depends on the quality of conversations. Everything happens through conversation. By grafting Conversational Intelligence® rituals into your interaction dynamics, you will discover new doors opening up in your mind and in your reality.

Integral Facilitator(R): Presence, Energy, and Perspective

This facilitation workshop practically applies integral principles to the art of facilitating.

Ideal for conference presenters, trainers, and group facilitators, this workshop focuses on the facilitator (rather than the methods) and explores new approaches to enhancing your experience at the front of the room.

As an Integral Facilitator, work with the here and now, take more perspectives, and embrace more of your experience, including dissonance, challenge, and shadow.

Access more choices in the moment and more capacity to address the full complexity of what is happening — in the energetics of the room, in the emotional domains of the interpersonal, in the realms of power and influence, in decision-making and conflict.

The power of Transformative Communities of Practice (TCoP) as an evolutionary force

Communities of practice are not only as old as humankind itself, but they even played a crucial role in our remote ancestors becoming human. However the concept of “communities of practice” is only 27 years old. It’s been embraced by most large organizations and used mostly for low-cost capacity development. Organization reinvention has a special place for a radically new version of it that we call “Transformative Communities of Practice.” It’s not about prolonging the status quo of the old management paradigm. TCoP is a group of people, who share their passion for transforming self, organizations, and social systems. In this workshop, participants will not only learn about TCoP, but will experience a living version of it. They will be introduced to the principles and methods for cultivating a TCoP in various phases of its lifecycle, group practices, case studies, Transparent Communication triads, interactive media, and the 8 archetypes of community hosting.

Valuesmatch – make the world a more conscious, loving and understanding place, by connecting people based on their personal values.

Being more aware of one’s personal values boosts engagement and well-being in life. People that share values usually understand each other better, and form a deeper connection . Valuesmatch is a digital tool to helps to match people who share values and view of life for deeper connection and co-creation. It also allows to deliberately choose to explore life with people who do not share our values and contribute to an opening of perspective and towards development, particularly when done in a more corporate “orange” setting.
SelfLeaders mapping of values for leadership development has been refined over the past decade, and used by more than 20,000 people

The Diversity—Wholeness Connection

Using 3 integrated, robust lenses of CORE Personal Patterns we explore a methodology that illuminates paths to evolutionary development in individuals and collectives. These patterns give us insights into how we are already self-organized. We often lose sight of our wholeness as we adapt to contexts that don’t match how we are naturally organized. Contexts that do not honor our diversity form a barrier to wholeness. Awareness of our own personal patterns and those of others makes us more appreciative of work and learning style differences. Recent examples of use at HolacracyOne, encode.org, and Evolution at Work, and over 20 years at a hospital will highlight Teal based applications. When these patterns become a common language, individuals and collectives can spot strengths, blind spots, communication blocks and interactional preferences that are sources of conflict as well as essential for creativity. Individual and group reflection and activities open your eyes to new perspectives.

Cities as Resonant Bodies

This workshop introduces a somatic inquiry into the paradigm so-called “Integral City,” along with key concepts, through the empirical lens of participatory modes of We-space in practice. From the Integral vision of the human evolutionary intelligence, this session aims to provide a collaborative experiential demonstration, somatically grounded, in the aim to exemplify, through play, movement and rewiring methods, self-organizing meshworks of humans, nonhumans and more-than humans with their living environments. This real-time meshworking assemble varying degrees of somatic awareness coalescently with tensions, conflicts, resistances and matters of concern that arise around some of today’s wicked urban problems (depletion of resources, population pressure, water scarcity, energy monopoly, climate change policies, etc.), and gradually articulate enriched embodied-relational design approaches to reconfigure and restore aliveness into Gaia’s fabric of life.

SUPPORT MATERIAL: This presentation is part of a series of experiential workshops, started between Spain and UK in 2016, both at European Symposium The Art of Collaboration (www.theartof-co.com) and at London Permaculture Festival. This ongoing work goes alongside the crowdfunding campaign for the translation project into Spanish (2014), in collaboration with Integral psychotherapist Raquel Torrent, of the books: Hamilton, Marilyn. The Integral City: Evolutionary Intelligences for the Human Hive (2008); and Hamilton, Marilyn. Integral City Inquiry & Action: Designing Impact for the Human Hive (2016).

Project: Envisioning your Teal Organisation through the lens of Appreciative Inquiry

We are going to use appreciative inquiry (A.I.) and the 4D model in order to help participants discover their strengths more deeply, imagine their ideal teal future and start designing or re-designing their first (or second) next actions. (A.I.) focuses on potential, improves organisations and individuals by finding out what is working well. It aims at getting the best out of people who are engaged in a system or a situation. Appreciative Inquiry is a strengths-based, inclusive and actionable approach towards large system change and development. It works on the premise that every organic system has some inherent generative forces which, when amplified, unleash positive energy and enable collective commitment.
Depending on the amount of the participants, the group dynamic architecture will be based on methods that promotes the collective intelligence and inspires the participants. We will work in pairs, small groups and in plenum, with some moments of silence and meditation in between.

Project: Embodying Teal – Resilience & growth practices’ lab for embracing the VUCA world

WHAT ?
* We will explore experientially, through the body, our personal relationship to the 4 conditions of the VUCA world (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) :
– Which ones do we navigate with most ease ? What inner resources / ways of BEING enable us specifically to do so ? What are we DOING operationally in our bodymind that supports this ?
– Which of these VUCA conditions do we find most challenging ? How does our personal « signature survival pattern » show up under pressure in these VUCA conditions ?
* From there, we will play with different practices to see how they support in us state shifts (horizontal development) and the connection to our next stage of being, seing, relating and acting (vertical development).
HOW ?
In a highly interactive format, we will blend somatic « VUCA simulator » exercises in pairs or triads (gentle somatic work of low intensity, no particular physical condition needed) with individual journalling and emergent, generative large group inquiry.

Reinventing Recruitment

Recruiting is among the least well functioning business processes. When confronted with the task to design the process for a huge personnel portal, Rainer v. Leoprechting reinvented the process with an integral design. Drawing from his experience as a career coach, he knew the desire of success was the best matchmaker between people offering and people searching for work. Learn in the session how in a few simple steps you can identify which successes are possible and real in your own organization, how to make this knowledge available for your hiring staff and your candidates, and how you bring every one to the job where they grow and produce best.

Project: What you say changes the world: Resonant language, fluidity, intimacy and creating the space we want to live in

The way we speak wires our brains, weaves the fabric of our relationships, and creates the world we live in. Research in interpersonal neurobiology shows that when we are met with resonant language, such as wondering about and naming emotions, dreams, longings, needs and body sensations, we are able to integrate even the most difficult experiences into how we know ourselves. And as we learn to speak to ourselves in this way, we move through the world with more flexibility and resiliency, our immune systems strengthen, and we stay intimately attuned to the moment. This workshop will explore the use of resonant language to shift relationships into deeper attunement and connection. We will also explore how resonant language deepens the 3D body-centered exploration of families over generations that is family constellation work.

Project: Heart of Europe & the Integral Power of our Heart

The integral stage is powered by our hearts. That’s how we see the deep connection between Integral Theory and our work as FUTURE Coaches and Trainers. The power of our hearts is not only some feel-good, green-stage thing. Much more than that it enables us: to go beyond our thoughts and expectations, to deeply accept a reality and different perceptions of it, to connect to the stages/instances within ourselves and others, to let go of obsolete thoughts, patterns and fears. There is the power of the individual heart, but also of the collective hearts of groups, organizations, even nations. At the IEC we like to go a step further, connecting into the heart of Europe. In this workshop you will:
– in part 1: Experience the power of your heart, supported by three experienced trainers and a set of methods developed and tested for more than 25 years.
– in part 2: Engage in an experiment to connect with the collective heart of Europe, experiencing Europe from a deeply integral perspective.

Co-Creating a New Republic of the Heart

We have all received our papers-a draft notice sent by the living Earth, the rivers and mountains and skies and seas. Human civilization is in crisis—now. When we report for duty we find ourselves exactly where we started, but also arriving at a monastery that is paradoxically also the mountain encampment of a dedicated revolutionary cadre.

In this seminar we will drop into sacred space, accept our draft papers and drop together into dreaming a new dream, telling a new story, and creating a new world—a new republic of the heart. The work of the integral practitioner suddenly has new significance. We are activated and empowered when we understand the connections between our consciousness, our relationships, our communities, our Earth, and our expression.

We will co-create deep Integral We-Space in the context of our shared morality, and allow it to activate and quicken our connections to one another. This seminar will be a sacred ceremony, an initiation, and a celebration.

Project: Purpose is as Purpose Does – Templates to Move From Aspiration to a New Reality

We’ve come a long way in reinventing business. Practices like Holacracy have repeatedly demonstrated how self-organizing the work for purpose can be made tangible and real. Now, new evolutionary tensions surface. Aspirational visionary thinking is not enough. We need to upgrade our legal agreements and our people-related systems as well, to align with the emerging principles of the New World of Work.

Get to know the For-Purpose Enterprise, developed by encode.org to solve these problems within the three contexts of Organization (work), Company (legal/assets) and Association (people). Gain practical answers to issues around legal structure, ownership, compensation, profit sharing, and cultural cohesion. Learn about a new type of worker, the Purpose Agent, who is working, earning, and living in alignment with both a personal purpose and an enterprise purpose. If time permits there will be role-play exercises, sharing in small groups, as well as Q&A with the workshop leaders.

Project: Religion: Evolution’s Ally or Enemy? (Live Stream)

Around two-hundred years ago on this continent, over 90 percent of, for example, northern Europe was “churched,” or seriously and religiously followed the existing conventional spirituality of the time. Today, less than 11 percent of northern Europe say they are churched. In fact, in most developed countries around the world, the more evolved a person is, the less religious they are. Is traditional religion an ally of evolution, or has it become its enemy?

It certainly looks as if typical religion has become the nemesis of evolution, both individual and cultural. In fact, there seem to be two major deficits that cripple typical religion and set it against any truly higher evolution. One, it lacks almost any form of genuine Waking Up. And two, it comes only from some very low levels of Growing Up. So no Waking Up, low Growing Up—no wonder only 11 percent of evolved populations want anything to do with such a belief system.

Religion is, among other things, the main system that creates and conveys meaning in any culture. With the largescale abandonment of most forms of traditional religion in the postmodern West, we are faced with what Douglas Murray calls The Strange Death of Europe—there is no set of universally believed values that Western culture can hold on to, and thus it is beginning to fray at the seams and is now undergoing a serious fragmentation and retribalization, which might very likely end in true disaster… and the strange death of Europe (Western culture in general).

Is there anything that an Integral Approach can do to reverse this calamitous state of affairs? Join me for a steady look at this very real problem, and at some of the ways that a truly Integral Approach might contribute to a viable solution.

Purpose Agents as Allies of Evolution: How to Work, Earn, and Live For Purpose

One important marker of evolution is directionality: it is going somewhere. It seems to follow some deeper purpose. Evolution pulls the New World of Work towards expressing the principles of purpose, autonomy, dynamism, holarchy, and transparency.

Organizations are the most powerful entities on the planet. These days we are called to transcend the focus on the profit vs non-profit distinction and rather ask, whether an organization follows a true, evolutionary purpose or rather a counterfeit ‘purpose’ of moneymaking: is it a ‘for-purpose’ or ‘not-for-purpose’ organization? The For-Purpose Enterprise is an example of how to radically reinvent and structure the work, the legal agreements and the people side of the street – for Purpose, for evolution.

Sensing into and expressing evolutionary purpose requires a new type of worker. We call it the “Purpose Agent”. By working, earning and living for purpose within these new structures Purpose Agents become true Allies of Evolution.

Dynamic Presencing in the We-Space

In this session, Olen Gunnlaugson delves into his recent research and work in Dynamic Presencing with an experiential-led inquiry through the four life worlds of Dynamic Presencing. Olen illustrates how uncovering the deeper ground of presence that directly informs the We-Space opens up a powerful inroad for practitioners to access a deeper dimension of the We together by exploring the territory of the Real, the Witness, Essence and finally Source. This session is for those practitioners who are interested in exploring the depth dimensions of presence as a gateway into a more robust, embodied and lived into understanding of the We-Space.

The Practice of Evolution: A Life of Integral Practice

John Dupuy brings a simple message that is as powerful as it is compelling and challenging. That message is: If we are to consciously evolve into the beings that we need to be, and the best versions of ourselves, both collectively and individually, we must adopt and engage in daily, ongoing Integral Practice. John has spent over a decade doing these practices himself, creating powerful tools to facilitate this work (iAwake Technologies), and teaching thousands of people all over the world—both his beloved addicts (Integral Recovery) and those who hunger for a deeper connection to life, reality, and the creative intelligence and skills that make a positive and lasting impact on our people and our planet.

Evolving Worldviews: The Zen of Our Shared Evolution

Studies in human development describe that we move from narrower perspectives to greater ones that are more inclusive and nuanced. As global leaders and change-makers we must recognize differing world-views and work with them in ourselves and in others. This experiential session is a guided journey through evolving world-views and will demonstrate how we grow to include more complexity, more competency, and compassion. The program will explore developmental levels: ego-centric, ethno-centric, world-centric, and kosmic-centric. In small groups we will use sentence-stems to articulate the interior texture and attributes of each level. The program will close with practical advice for how to ground and integrate this teaching into your leadership and action. Becoming a human nexus for the evolution of the humanity can become the essence of your daily practice.

What is needed for humanity to become Allies of Evolution?

Is humanity ready to be Allies of Evolution? Or will humanity continue to be Colonizers of Planet Earth? Indigenous Elders from around the world are reminding us that we need to find our own indigenous roots, re-connect with Mother Earth and all Life, and learn how to be conscious witnesses for each other so that we know who we trully are, why we are here and where we are going. Following preparatory exercises , we will do a large group constellation, asking the question to the Knowing Field “What is needed for humanity to become Allies of Evolution?”

Running the Gamut of Creativity: In Support of Integrative and Embodied Perspective

An integrative theory of creativity, like the people it reflects, would be multi-dimensional, inclusive of complex combinations of biological, cultural, and psychological realities, and with an associated breadth of functions. Creativity research often supports conflicting conclusions. In this workshop, a review of empirical creativity research will be presented. An integrative theory of creativity will be proposed; one that embraces the paradoxical conclusions of past creativity research. This workshop will include three experientials. Using the one dimensional, two dimensional, and three dimensional scales of Rudolf Laban, a metaphor of expanding mental conception of creativity will be explored. Recent research in grounded and embodied cognition supports the long-held belief in dance/movement therapy of the symbolic and metaphoric use of movement and its connection to mental conceptualization. Exploration of this topic will be didactic and embodied.

The 3rd Thing: An Integral Approach to Creative Collaboration

The 3rd Thing: An Integral Approach to Creative Collaboration is an experiential workshop that seeks to explore and harness the emergent capacity of separate, distinct voices catalyzing together. Through a rigorously practiced collaborative process of movement, writing, conversation and meditation, participants will be guided into an embodied conversation toward the heart of innovation and creativity. More than a formula or method, Lauren and Brooke offer skills for partners or small groups to hone individual intentions, align with intuition, unleash uninhibited imagination, and together move from the known to the unknown to discover a third thing not possible without the collaboration. Engaging 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person perspectives to craft a novel idea, project, or performance, participants will gain a direct, multidimensional experience of how to catalyze new potential and possibilities through creative process.

Evolutionary Insight™: a “fast-track” integral diagnostics of organizations

This presentation outlines the idea and structure of the Evolutionary Insight™ workshop that is designed to help leaders obtain valuable insights, raise awareness, and gain new momentum for their personal and organizational evolution. It addresses organizational challenges and is tapping into its potential by using an Integral AQAL Map. It is a “fast-track” solution for organizations that are not willing (or ready) to engage in complex, lengthy and often expensive diagnostic activities, but are open to having a quick look at themselves from different new perspectives. The workshop is based on the Integral theory, the Theory U and the Action inquiry approach – a process of transformational learning that helps leaders and organizations perform in more effective, mutual and sustainable ways.

Opening plenary of the TEAL organizations track

DAY3: MAY, 24 THUESDAY

KEYNOTE VIDEOS AND AUDIOS

Principles of a living organization

Heiligenfeld is a company in Germany running a number of mostly psychosomatic hospitals and an academy organizing trainings, small and large conferences. The organization developed over 27 years from vision to aliving organization. Along this evolution some essential principles for organizational structure, culture and values unfolded: consciousness/mindfulness, self-organization, wholeness/integral perspectives, openness and the secret of life. The presentation will show this process with some illustrative examples.

Making to Unknow – Art, Growth & Observational Leadership

PART OF THE IF TRACK: Roll up your sleeves and immerse in a facilitated sequence of drawing and collage instruction designed to reveal and challenge perceptions and conventional thinking. The experience is shaped to develop openness and tolerance for ambiguity, disruption and iteration, and to experience new capacities and greater opportunity through adaptation and new sense-making.

As facilitative leaders, we can both expand and sharpen what we see, hear, notice, and absorb from environments. Expanding perceptions and holding multiple perspectives can grow the self-as-instrument, revealing more information and possibility, such that we can react differently under pressure, change faster, offer new way perspectives to others, and lean into uncertainty.

In this workshop, we will:
Make art
Challenge conventional thinking
Generate new mental models
Reframe challenges, problems and opportunities
Lead through openness, trust and tolerance for ambiguity
Experiment, iterate and adapt

Teal breakthroughs and organizational transformation

Evolutionary purpose, self management and wholeness are the breakthroughs that define teal organizations. But they can be also understood as emergent characteristics in organizations in previous evolutionary stages.
The Sustainable Organization Research Group (GIOS), at Technical University of Madrid, has defined a research case studies methodology, based on Laloux model, for ambar, orange/green and teal oriented organizations. The objective of this metodolology is to explore the emergence of teal breakthroughs as organizational innovation. In this article we present some result of three case studies: Conservatory of Barcelona, as part of a local government (ambar); Everis, a transformation and technology consultant (orange- green); and Infojobs-Schibsted Spain, an online jobs marketplaces multinational (teal oriented).

Is a TEAL organization created by people or it is created by itself?

We would like to share and discuss our experiences, dilemmas, traps and our insights through our personal journey from orange to teal organization.
It seems to be a very exciting self-awareness process when many times we realize that we are regressing to our previous patterns orange way of working because of stressful thoughts (eg. what will happen without direct leadership, controll, precise processes, what is a teal meeting look like, how to share our fund among volunteers, projects and organization).
And it is always turned out that nothing wrong could happen.

Teaching is Touching the Future • adaptive building blocks
from theory to everyday Teal inspired educationo

By self experiencing specific elements that nurture Teal education we prepare a space where we exchange and co-create Next Practices for adaptive intelligent steps in school development.

As a first step, we dive directly into a constellation exercise that allows us to sense the fertile diversity within ourselves as well as within the group. The outcome of the constellation on learning preferences will determine the structure and flow of the following steps. Covering the range of guided presentation, simulations, small group exchanges, … we create a space where individual and collective learning happens. The goal of the workshop is to inspire and empower participants to (re-)invent and adapt elements that nurture a Teal mindset and meet their specific needs and contexts.

Dementia integral – understanding the complexity of a so called disease

In the academic world as in the field of geropsychiatric care as in public the medical/biological perspective on dementia is the only really accepted perspective on that, what most people will call a disease: dementia. But there are many other perspectives, academical (gerontology, sociology, psychology, economics, architecture, cultural, ethnology, theology etc.), practical of nurses, psychiatrists, social worker, personal of spouses, family members and first of all: of people with dementia themselves. My draft of an integral dementia model brings together academical, practical, personal and structural perspectives from inside and outside dementia in AQAL. Nothing becomes easier by this model. But seeing the complexity of that what I call an entity, not a disease, makes it easier to understand that there will be no easy answers as the pharmaceutical research tries to convince us. We have to see and we have to bear the complexity first. Stand and feel first. Then act, consciously.

An integral critique for self and client contexts

Integral practice requires an integral stance of the practitioner. Stance matters above all else. This session offers insights into an Integral Critique which provides a challenge to the practitioner and client alike to ensure that the solutions they develop are designed from, as best we know how, an integral stance. The Integral Critique is a psycho-active approach that prepares the mind to ‘navigate-complexity’ with volition, grace and ease.
The audience will consider an issue of their choice and step by step explore their issue through the lens of the Integral Critique.
Integral Critique will be explained as part of an overall Human Emergence Framework (Cooke and Cooke 2017) which provides a valuable stimulus for integral practise at all scales from the individual to human species. The session will equip participants to discern holistically informed approaches.

Shadow Play

Shadow practice is often referred to as shadow “work,” but what if it was “play?” Learn to enjoy and delight in what you’ve kept in the dark. Hidden shadow aspects can be an ally in your evolution. There is wisdom in what , in what upsets you and also in what lights you up. By engaging in regular shadow play you can leverage triggers for accelerated development, greater external success, and enhanced quality of life. Whether its dark or bright shadow, you can trust the evolutionary wisdom of your shadow. As a multi-dimensional being, you have an opportunity to show up even more fully and be even more of who you are, evolution is calling us.

At this workshop, you’ll have an opportunity engage in creative shadow play, in service to insight and upliftment and being more you. There will be an opportunity to translate your shadow awareness into a meaningful outer action. The processes we will engage can be implemented into your regular integral practice.

Integral Principles in Practice in Engineering

At this conference I do not need to explain the benefits of integral theory and self-organisation. Yet in the company I work for as an engineer, most are unaware of these principles. In the past, for many years, I have tried to explain first, but found this approach to be counterproductive, I cannot convey an experience by talking about it. Therefore I have developed another approach. I apply Spiral Dynamics, Open Participatory Organisation, AQAL, Cynefin and more models, but only explain in terms of the immediate situation at hand. I might say: the values for this manager seems to be oriented towards traditional values (blue vMeme) so I will word my information in a logical way, referring to previous hierarchical decisions. Or I might pick up a weak signal in a complex situation and only then explain that I am using the Cynefin model to make sense of what is happening and how we should proceed. I notice that people then pick up on the field and start acting in similar ways.

Second Tier Leadership – a practice guide for passionate, integral leadership

How do we lead in the midst of the complexity of our world? Are we bold enough to stand up for our values and lead with passion and compassion towards a better future, for ourselves, our children and the world? How do we lead by honoring each other’s needs, opinions, wisdom and shadows without giving up on our values? How do we hold a pluralistic worldview that doesn’t end up flattening everything out? How do we lead with an increasing ability to create the circumstances that allow change and development in people, teams, organisations and ourselves to happen? How do we lead by honoring reality and each other’s perspective without losing sight of the potential for a higher synthesis? “Second Tier Leadership” is a practice framework supporting these aspirations in all four quadrants. It enables us to become better leaders for a better world.

FACILITATION OF THE LEADER AND ORGANIZATION GROWTH PROCESS, BASED ON 12 PRINCIPLES OF PSYCHOSYNTHESIS

This type of approach, coming out of and self-updating, has been articulated many times over the twentieth century, but it is only now finding a viable foundation for its implementation in many organizations around the world.
The proposed individual work in the group is based on the author’s program of managerial and organizational psychosynthesis, created and tested in 1970-1980 at CLUniversity, by Dr. John W. Cullen (IAMOP, USA) and in the mid-90s on the managerial staff in Poland. The host was JW Cullen’s attendant and student in subsequent years. An important part of this program are the above mentioned principles. The program prepare potential leaders for tomorrow, who are not afraid of the future challenges.
Leadership features include: flexibility, growth over ego, self-worth, self-support and self-control, intuitive management, “self-feeling and feel the nature”, vision and “soul call”, sense of life, internal motivation to “infect” others, serving the good of the whole.

Integral vs Silicon Valley

Wilber’s first books, ‘No Boundary’ and ‘The Spectrum of Consciousness’ set out an understanding of the mystical experience which is accessible to the modern mind as never before. Wilber take the mystery out of mysticism. This is an experiential workshop which will lead you into a clear understanding of the mystical experience, and to realizing that it is the fundamental nature of every moment you can ever experience. The workshop is mainly exercises and meditations, with a little conceptual explanation. You will experience what Steve has termed ‘Retalk’: a fun new language that reflects no-boundary reality. The workshop is open to people of any spiritual tradition, or none. The only requirement is a willingness to experiment; to look

The devil is in the LR: Integral analysis of complex organizational learning

This presentation is based on a Design Based Research study of organizational learning (Bres, 2015), and on a subsequent Integral Analysis of how and why organizational learning did, and did not, occur in the study. Integral Theory is applied to deepen the understanding of how human organizations learn and adapt as complex adaptive systems made up of nested, operationally closed groups and individuals. The level of development and learning potential of an organization, as holon, can be understood as an emergent property resulting from the coordination of function and action of the unities that make up the system, even given that the levels of development and learning potentials of the groups and individuals in an organization are not homogenous. Applying Vygotsky’s concept of Zones of Proximal Development, a transdisciplinary approach is proposed as a tool for supporting organizational development and learning in established organizations looking to develop towards teal.

The 7 Appreciative Perspectives “Things go great when appreciation is present”

This poster presents a collection of short statements based on 7 perspectives. These so called Appreciator’s Perspectives arose from 5 years of shared AI practice and appreciative work.
There is a link to a website with a growing number of additional translations into languages such as French, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, Polish, Danish…

The Appreciator’s Perspectives were created with the intention to inspire and support experimentation in people’s everyday lives and work. They are an invitation to have fun trying them out as motto for the day, in seminars, in trainings…
They are designed to have the power to deepen, spread and create appreciation and at the same time they represent the values and focus of The Appreciators.

The Focuses:
Appreciation includes everything!
Self-appreciation is the basis
Appreciation activates potentials
Conflicts generate “friction gain”
A unity beyond teamwork
“Truth” in otherness
The essential occurs in the “in-between”

Individualist in Achiever: Stages of Integration

How Russian entrepreneurs shift to a new Action Logic. Practical conclusions are based on the experience gained in the program of facilitating a group of small and medium-sized business during 2017.

It is always painful for a businessman to shift the focus from results and efficiency to professional interests and pleasure. It happens because any meaningful change in life is a loss, a small death. It’s hard to cope with the fear of losing the years of results in business, status and familiar comfort. After all, these characteristics, in general, are indicators of the leadership success. The shift from the Achiever to the Individualist occurs through the transformation of the concepts of “success” and “I am better than others.” The Achiever asks: “Why do I need all this?”, “What do I really want?”.
At the presentation we will tell:
– What challenges lead the entrepreneur to the need for transformation.
– What individual and group practices allow to cope with fears and resistance to the Achiever-Individualist shift.
– The difficulties of support of clients in the shift process.
– Three stories about the integral support of entrepreneurs.

Evolution of Mystical Experience and Synthesis of Spiritual Lineages

Join in a voyage through the evolution of mystical experience, from the ancient Taoists, Rishis and Yogis, passing through the Christian Age and the evolution of spiritual traditions, to a present full of possibilities.
I-EXPERIENCE (UL): we will immerse ourselves in the presence of Divine Love (AGAPE at Overmind level) as it manifests in the universal non-dual field of consciousness. A meditative talk on the Genesis of the Cosmos and the evolution of mystical experience will follow.
WE-EXPERIENCE (LL): we will explore how different value systems may limit the evolution of mystical experience, and hinder the dialogue and synthesis of spiritual traditions (e.g., absolutistic [BLUE] “my tradition is the one valid,” pluralistic [GREEN] “all traditions lead to the same goal”).
SYNERGIC EXPERIENCE (LR): finally, we will do a group meditation for the energetic acknowledgement of 4 lineages—Christian, Taoist, Buddhist and Indian Dharma—and experience their powerful evolutionary synthesis.

Founding a teal school

This is the success-story of a group of persons inspired by the Frederic Lalouxs Book RO in Germany. In really short time we managed to develop a completly new model of teal schooltype. Working with purpose for teachers, selforganised, decisionmaking without consense , hierarchys or special methods of selforganization. Based on the concept to work on the adults competencies to be fully responsible for themselfs, be authentic and to have integrity. The huge resonance and great steps from dream to a real working school in only 3 years revealed the big power of this approach.

Integral Theatre Workshop: Building the Body of your Future Self

The purpose of this workshop is to build a new way of relating to the world using our own body as ressource. Our gross body is the border of the interior and the exterior, the keeper of our individuality and the guardian of our unconscious and conscious mind. Through theatre excerices we will discover our particular way of being and it’s expresssion through our body. We will get aware of how we move through and communicate with the world in our particular body-language. Then we will deconstruct it to enter a ‘neutral’ body state. From this body-mind state we will let in the higher self building the new bodystep by step. By using methods from the theatre and coaching we will integrate this new way of going and seeing, making it a future resource to deal with the challenges of our world.

The Hierarchy of Anarchy: Holarchical Structures and 3D Management

Getting rid of formal bosses does not mean hierarchy disappears. That is a common misunderstanding in this new tendency towards boss-less and flat organizations. The root cause of the problem is the belief, especially of people at the green level of development, that hierarchies are inherently bad. In this paper we resort to integral theory to recover depth in organizations where higher is no longer a dirty word but a natural and desirable condition of a holarchy. Using 3D-Management theory as a framework, we will explain in practical terms how self-management and holarchy are fully compatible within a holarchical organizational structure.

Feminine Shadow and Women in Leadership

Feminine Shadow work is an opportunity to come together with other women in a playful, daring and ultimately impactful way, to gain new understandings about the ways women negotiate power and relationships with masterful yet obscure dynamics and find ways to work through them by becoming more responsible onto ourselves and revealing to other women.
We will shed light on what shadow is – what we are not willing to own in our 1st perspective – and how it manifests. As we create more awareness and become more available to parts of ourselves that we normally project onto other women, we discover new possibilities to relate, collaborate and support.
The assumption is: “when we bring these hidden dynamics forward they become your power and you can have more influence in the world and in your leadership as a woman.”
This work is important and relevant today because women discuss power issues in gender and biases but rarely do we speak of the #1 Nemesis of women: Other Women.

From Zero Waste to Max Thriving: Next Stage World Gathering(s), Growing the Community of Next Stage Practitioners

This is going to be an experiential and interactive approach with the participants on the story of “Next Stage World Gathering: The Global Gathering of Leaders, Reinventors and Pioneers” in its second year of evolution as an organisation in its own right and as contributor to the global integral movement and practice. The talk/workshop will focus especially on the last gathering (April 2018) on the small island of Halki, where it’s taking its evolutionary leap towards an organisational space for “zero waste – max thriving”, practicing what we named as: “prototyping the irresistible future”. From our 2 year experience of NSW Gatherings, we are going to showcase specific examples of organistions and practices that are in the core of innovation and fostering systemic evolution on local and glocal way and level. We are going to guide you into the models we see emerging with reference to the common elements of innovative organisations as well as the learnings from a meta-perspective.

Circling Introduction

Come to learn the building blocks of Circling and try them out immediately! Circling is a fast-growing We-Space practice, creating more depth and authenticity by training our curiosity and openness.

Circling is a highly effective relational practice that boosts the depth in your relationships, including the one with yourself. It is a combination of meditative presence, body awareness and non-violent communication, and builds curiosity and a readiness to show up vulnerably.

We practice simply being present with what arises in the moment, both in ourselves, and in connection with other people, stepping away from story and assumption, fixing or changing. “The only place to get, is more here.” Circling allows you to express yourself fully and to be seen as you are.

The practice quickly builds relational capacity and increasing sensitivity to (and trust in) what is happening in and around you. It allows your relational blind spots to become visible, and gives you insight into your impact, your stories, how you are perceived and how you are perceiving. It is a beautiful and extremely efficient way to highlight (golden) shadows, by staying curious together.

Outline / stagescript

– Welcome, short meditation & check-ins
– What is Authentic Relating and Circling?
– Duo exercises: Distinction between Notice (It), Feel (I), Imagine (I of other) with switching partners and short debriefs
– Short Circles in triads: weaving shared reality (We)

Reconciliation with Masculinity

Throughout most of human history, warfare, violence and destruction have been the role of masculinity. Today we strongly criticize the crimes of patriarchy, and many conscious men carry a heavy burden of shame and guilt, blocking their energy. But at the same time we cannot ignore the creative, constructive role of the masculine in the evolution: innumerable artists, discoverers, thinkers, healers were men who developed our human culture. What if the two sides were interconnected? An integral understanding of the role of masculinity, that includes both the destructive and the constructive role, may lead to a reconciliation with masculinity. Evolution dearly needs the liberated, positive male energy to contribute to the future development. In the workshop we will explore the polarity of constructive and destructive masculine power through all stages of development, and attempt a ritual of reconciliation with our evolutionary role.

Symblify – The First Self-Coaching Mobile App That Combines The Power of Symbols with The Professional Process of Life Coaching

With Symblify, this brand new and unique life coach mobile app, people can handle the problems in their life, career, relationships, family, or personal development in a simple and intuitive way.

Symblify combines the power of symbolic thinking with professional coaching process to provide an inspiring and structured tool for self improvement. Users select symbol cards to describe their situation they want to change. Symbols wake up the right brain and unlock hidden resources in the users’ mind. They think and talk about their symbols and they start to understand their situation in a much deeper way they were able to do before.

Then they have the possibility to manipulate the symbols (move, rotate, zoom in, change) in order to transform their situation in a symbolic way. And as they change the symbols, and they think and talk about it, they start to change they real-life situation as well. They suddenly realize changes in their perspective and new, previously hidden solutions emerging from their mind.

Symblify has an amazing effect of liberating ideas, emotions and resources in the mind and of helping all these contents to create a clear path to a better situation in the user’s imagination.

Symblify does not give advice and does not tell the user what to do. It works in a similar way to real-life coaching, as professional support comes from the app, while solutions come from the user.

Why Integral Practice is non-negotiable

Integral Theory excels at putting our experiences into a meaningful context, making it a powerful tool to work with. Yet, it can not be simply taught or learned like any other theory: We are built in a way that only lets us look closely at things we are more or less free of. Where we aren’t free, we often have blindspots that sabotage our work and development.
This is why Integral Theory itself states that in order to understand and work with it, you need to apply it rigorously to your practice, creating an Integral Life Practice.
In this talk, Silas Hörler, author of the book “Integral Bodywork” goes into the dangers and pitfalls of an Integral Practice. We will pay special attention to shadow material and how it hides where we least expect it.
Everyone has blindspots. Let’s confront them and be the best we can be.

Equality, Diversity and collective shadow

Since September 2013 Steffen Münzner host dialogues (with co-facilitators) in various Brazilianian cities on equality, diversity and collective shadow, with the intention to put the spotlight on what happens in the space between equality and diversity.
In our social holons we create for practical reasons systems where we create the people as equals, often ignoring that the people are different in terms of their value systems, sense-making processes and vertival development. If and how theses tensions can create collective shadows and social pathodologies is the topic of this presentation based on the experiences from the conversations in Brazil since September 2017.

Signs of Second-Tier Consciousness in Organisations and Across Cultures

This workshop will contain a mixture of presentations, videos, plenum discussions and break-out sessions.
After having provided an overview of Spiral Dynamics in order to understand the general principles of the Spiral Dynamics theory a special focus will be given to the practical application of Spiral Dynamics in small and large organisations. Specific examples will be reviewed and discussed.
As a second component of the workshop special focus will be given to potential signs of emerging “second-Tier” consciousness globally. As an introduction to this part of the program a review of the actual and concrete signs (if any) of “Second-Tier” consciousness in the Nordic countries will be given. Following this review a break-out session will be organised in order to allow smaller groups of workshop attendees to discuss for 45 min. signs of “Yellow”. The workshop will finish with a plenum discussion on the findings in the break-out sessions as well as a summary of the entire workshop.

STAGES for Integral Geeks

This workshop features the theoretical underpinnings of the STAGES developmental model, based on a combination of Wilber’s work and the Loevinger Lineage of ego development, and how the theory supports the subsequent research.

The three polar pairs of individual/collective, inside and outside, and inter/exterior that make up the Integral frame is used in a novel way to create perspective definitions, and a new understanding of the use of zones.

Participants will learn how emptiness and fullness is the basis of this model, how developmental stereotypes get propagated, and the repeating patterns that arise through making some clear distinctions from the orienting generalizations in the Integral Frame.

The methodology for arriving at this theory and the subsequent research will be described.

What’s going on in later stages? — Do integral developmental theories agree?

We compare adult developmental theories including those of Kegan, Commons, Fischer, Cook-Greuter, O’Fallon, and Wilber, offering new tools to understand why some frameworks differ about what it means to develop through later stages (“second tier”). Themes include: differentiating upward growth vs. downward or ablative “growth;” differences in the types of developmental operations or moves that each theory emphasizes; why what is considered vertical growth in one model may be horizontal growth in another; and additional thoughts on the relationship between states and stages. The goal is to improve our theoretical foundation and framing for further inquiry into late stage development, not to suggest definitive descriptions or definitions of late stage development.

Integral transformational program for managers – 16 years, 16 groups, 450 people – the results, lessons, perspectives

This subject is to share our experience gained for over 16 years in the two-year program «Integral coaching and related technologies». The program was originally designed as an educational and was initially built on the principles of integrality. Over the years we have seen its various effects: how the participants change themselves, their logic of action, levels of consciousness and a quality of their life.
Our target is to show how it is possible to help people to change themselves and their lives, how the program has been changed, what we have been taught by the participants, what mistakes we have made, and how the program has been changed over the years.

Integral Christianity

Europe’s culture has been strongly influenced by a Christianity that is now in crisis — as is also European culture. With the help of Ken Wilber’s thought models, Brother David will explore both the current crises and potential ways of overcoming them. In view of the close connection between Europe and Christianity, it is not only Christians whom this exploration concerns, but all who care for Europe’s future.

Integral Zen: Waking Up, Growing Up, Cleaning Up and Showing

This Keynote will focus on the Big Three S’s of Integral: States, Structures and Shadows. We will begin with Waking Up. Do you prefer to think of Waking Up as a process of becoming more or becoming less? In a playful way, Doshin will explore Integral Awakening from both perspectives: the perspective of becoming more spiritual and the perspective of becoming less selfish. Now, how about Growing Up? Even if someone is both completely awake and selfless, what does that looks like at different altitudes of structural development? What happens if a traditional realized teacher from the East comes to the West? Or if postmodern Western students go study with an Easter teacher in a traditional community? And, how about Cleaning Up. Roger Walsh says clearly that everyone has shadows. That includes all students and all teachers. The Transference and Counter Transference between students and teachers is a rich ground for Awakening, evolving, cleaning up our disowned subpersonalities and healing our dysfunctions. What exactly does Ken Wilber mean when he says: “Shadows are addictions and allergies in states and structures, and what drives them?” Does that apply to both individuals and collectives? Come explore what kind of Integral practices have proven to be helpful in the Laboratory of Integral Zen? Come listen to Doshin describe what it actually means to “Put your Integral Zen on.”

‘GALE’ – A proposed ‘organizing DNA’ for supporting a city and its participating organizations in realizing their full AQAL potential

Alain will introduce participants to an AQAL-friendly ‘organizing DNA’ named ‘GALE’ (Generative Action-Learning Ecosystem). In sharp contrast with our 5000-year tradition of hierarchical control-over human systems, it is a pragmatic path to a future that works for all life – a path involving the on-going metamorphosis of today’s caterpillar-like systems to unlimited potential implicit in conscious, caring, self-evolving cities and organizations.
Participants will engage with the GALE meme in a practical way that helps them see the profound possibilities implicit in consciously evolving human systems.
Alain sees ‘cities’ as the optimal level of human system for planting the GALE seed and nurturing its growth throughout its participating organizations – and for propagation throughout our planet.
Exploratory work has begun in four cities (USA & India). The cities pioneering GALE metamorphosis will do much to accelerate a graceful transition from the ‘Empire Era’ to the ‘Planetary Era’

Transformative listening for helping established organisations going Teal

Research shows that CEOs of organisations worldwide and across all sectors have on the top of their mind questions about the future of work and the future of organisations. (1) The obsolete management paradigm inherited from the 20th century isn’t delivering the answers the world needs right now.
What creates tension even in organization with teal inspired leaders is when in spite of their enlightened ideas they still behave as bosses and many employees are too used to be told what to do.
The change required will need to engage the whole person, help them recognize the hidden power of their blind spots and fears and support and coach people in the practices of self-management.
In this workshop participants will learn how transforming self and organizations are interdependent and how practising the art of transformative listening can shift peoples assumptions and behaviours. They will learn how to apply such practices in daily life and work and become re-inventors themselves.

Teaching is Touching the Future • adaptive building blocks
from theory to everyday Teal inspired education

The Purpose Road To Teal: Connecting Startups and Corporations to Their Purpose

Using two case studies from the field Dr. Karafiath presents how bringing purpose into the company consciousness can be beneficial to companies big and small. We showcase examples of a tech startup and a fairly large European tech company (1400 software engineers). We present the culture transformation process where we first connect the companies to their ‘why’, connecting them to their higher purpose, a real teal state. Then we present how we bridge the gap between their state and the teal state using purpose as an anchor.

How to make transformative education sexy – A co-creative process around global comptences in a VUCA world

An increasing number of initiatives across Europe and worldwide develop and deliver transformative adult and higher education which is inspired by integral, holistic and sustainability frameworks. Many of these initiatives, however, struggle with visibility, viability and recognition. In conversations among several initiatives and networks the idea emerged to co-create a European portal for transformative education to promote and strengthen this emerging field. The workshop proposes to explore the following questions through a number of co-creative methods:
What are the competences, dispositions, attitudes a complex and multicultural world needs in order to address properly the global challenges?
Which global culture is required to foster the development of global competences?
Which contents and structures in the educational field do we need in a VUCA World?
What is needed to increase the visibility of transformative education?

Australia and America: A Unique Experiment in Applied Integral Theory

Nation states do not necessarily provide good material for case studies of comparative development.
Aus and USA have enough similarities (distance to mother country, ethnicity, relative youth, “undiscovered and uninhabited” continents, language, culture) to create an interesting case study for comparison of their respective stages of evolution. There are enough disparities to make the comparison compelling (climate/geography and flora/fauna, that crucial 100 year difference in founding date, Puritan founders vs convicts and military).
Just as explicating the Trump phenomenon without an Integral perspective often leaves a feeling of faded explanations and tired punditry, an Integral perspective enlivens and sharpens the comparison of USA and Aus. Plodding through political, social, historical, geographical data without the added richness of AQAL + Spiral Dynamics quickly feels outdated. Integral mapping creates a vivid story of 2 short histories and 2 fascinating futures.

The Pull of Communion

It’s time to choose what we want! It’s time engage both planetary and species viability. It’s time to choose to grow into the 2nd Tier shift in human awareness that has become latent and awaits legitimacy and utilisation. Stepping through this membrane like transition with a singularity-energised critical mass or movement is, I suggest, the primary function of our work together.

This interactive presentation builds, through each participant, a collective impression of acting with sincere volition, through a growing awareness of the primary patterns of all life.

We start with Universe seeking the recursive patterns, then explore from the soil to the stomach to the soul the impact on how we think and organise.

We will create more questions than answers as we witness certain hope in an uncertain world and realise the scale of the change that is in motion.

This is a practice.

Be prepared to be surprised!

Midwifing the Emerging Future – the Practice of Life at Work (hcOrG)

.: How do we support organizations during their transformations?
.: What principles, values and strengths are guiding the process?
.: Which life-giving worldviews (instead of ‘mindsets’) ease our contribution and service?

Let’s open space to exchange experiences and insights when midwifing transformational processes in organizations. One contribution to this exchange is the human-centered Organizational Governance (hcOrG) approach which offers a practice to give birth to and nourish Life at Work.

Am very much looking forward to sharing with you some practical examples of my consultancy work in the Middle East and co-creating a meaningful session with you.

Meditating on the dance floor

Movement is our mother tongue, deeply rooted in our collective DNA, waiting to be rediscovered. Whether you have two left feet or consider yourself an experienced dancer, we welcome you to a safe space where you can explore your own creative possibilities, reconnect with your body, sweat your stress away and dance your truth! This workshop integrates elements of Dance Therapy, 5 Rhythms and different forms of movement meditation to put your body in motion while keeping your mind peaceful and still. More than just a dance class, this is a transformational space for healing, self-empowerment, and joy. Let go of your age, gender or culture… All differences dissolve when we meet as One on the dance floor.

Holacracy Governance Simulation

Self-organization sounds great in theory, but can be challenging to implement in practice. Holacracy offers clear rules and structured meetings to define together which role should hold what authority and which role can be counted on to do what. The sophisticated governance meeting process lowers the bar for people to throw in proposals, scrutinizes and integrates objections and arrives at balanced and safe decisions that move the organization closer to its purpose.

Take the chance to experience a live simulation of a governance meeting with an experienced Holacracy Coach. In the roleplay, you can bring up your tension, formulate a proposal to solve it and let the process work its wonders. It’s magic. After the simulation, you can debrief your experience with Q&A in the group.

The Conscious Witness Project: Research in The Knowing Field

A phenomenalogical research project by two systemic constellation work facilitators to explore the impact of different kinds of witnesses (witnesses who deny, freeze, flee, fight, observe neutrally, and see-beyond- the-pattern)on local and global events. We have done multiple tests using different themes (for example victim-tyrant), and have had consistent results that the witness-who-sees-beyond-the-pattern shifts the social field towards healing. This is an invitation to many to develop their capacity as a conscious witness.

How using Archetypes may transform and empower each of us, the Change Management & other fields to efficiently deal with the Sustainability and Human Development Tensions & Challenges of 21st century

Archetypes are extremely well adapted to deal with complexity, with nowadays chaotic challenges/tensions. They offer a complement to the current Integral theory by bringing in an “energetic/dynamic” dimension. They can be used to understand and consciously modify the stories we tell ourselves & that shape our individual and collective lives & all our interactions. By giving us this reflective capacity, evolution now seems to push us to the driver’s seat, to conscious evolution. Either we ignore this new power and remain stuck in Plato’s cave, powered over by our “old archetypal gods”, our survival instincts, which slowly but surely entrains us to an inevitable downward death spiral, or, we consciously choose to continue evolving towards ‘the most beautiful life we can dream of’. The model I developed, and which needs to be tested, shows how this could be done and might impact Change Mngmt, Human Dev., interpersonal interactions & organizations, & then our common future on this planet.

Two new orientations for the West: 1 True Democracy; 2 Non-material growth as a goal

Today too much political power is concentrated in the hands of the very rich (wealth over 50 Mio $). The West (the World later on) needs a new development vision. It could start with a “Double Initiative” to change the Swiss Constitution through decision of all citizens. INI. 1. For true Democracy. Could be achieved, if the capital and its power is shared among all citizens, leaving 10 Mio Euro wealth to rich families. All adults become owners, i.e. economically responsable, full citizens. (Similar: end of Middle Age: sharing ground ownership). INI 2. Non-material growth as a central goal of development of society. Material wealth and well-being are high enough, ecology needs limits in consumption. Material wealth has to be shared among all, can be kept high, without growing. The growth of non-material areas (emotional, intellectual, creative, psycho-spiritual) will add more life-satisfaction than more material consumption.

Does Type Stay Consistent or Change in Accordance with Level of Development? If so, What Is Constant? What Distinguishes Type from Development?

This research project began with curiosity about Types and Levels. Types are often seen as static, useful only for horizontal development. Our observations revealed that aspects of level descriptions from Spiral Dynamics, Altitudes, ego development, and STAGES seem to reflect typology patterns and vice versa. If the descriptions are similar, what is a Type and what is a Level? What, if any, are the intersections between them? In 2013, Linda outlined a Meta-model of Types and a relationship to development. Finding no comprehensive research to date, we explore Essential Motivators, Interaction Styles, Cognitive Dynamics (3 integrated lenses on 16 Jungian types) and the Enneagram as robust typologies that include a path for vertical development, along with level descriptions, the STAGES and type assessments. See our preliminary research results on the intersections and distinctions of typology and levels, and how this relationship can spark vertical development and evolutionary changes.

Vocational Arousal

During collaboration within teams and organizations, sometimes dynamics appear between the co-workers that lead to various conditions that have to do with how they relate with each other. Conditions which include stagnation, tensions, stability or flow. Particularly, the dynamics between feminine and masculine forces seem to amplify these dynamics. With feminine and masculine I don’t mean women and men, but the essential principles which can be active in different flavors in all genders.

Many of these dynamics are generated by feelings and emotions, and even sexual attraction or its opposite, which are often unnoticed by the people involved and can have unconscious consequences. In this presentation I like to explore how such emotions, as well as our life force, are influencing our collaboration in teams and organizations.

Diaphanous Reality: Jean Gebser, Integral Consciousness and Contemporary Manifestations

Jean Gebser offered a unique, phenomenological approach to cohering integral consciousness—particularly, the unfoldment of the structures as their qualities were evidenced in works of art, sculpture, language, myth, and other cultural artifacts. This presentation invites Integral Theory scholars and all participants to truly encounter Gebser’s work—in its own right—by introducing his methodology and exploring integral consciousness through its singular characteristics of “time-freedom” and “diaphaneity.” Building on this understanding, we will “bring to bear” these qualities of the integral structure and seek them out in contemporary cultural manifestations: from remixing the magic and mythic structures in technology, to time-freedom in digital art and cinema, to diaphaneity in the Anthropocene. Multimedia examples will be used to illustrate—or in Gebser’s words, to “concretize”—the latent, yet never more present, integral world.

Creating the beloved community – spiritual community in an integral world

Based on my book, “Creating the Beloved Community,” the interactive presentation/workshop will focus on how to develop greater spiritual integrity in local spiritual communities as a basis for development along the spiral (as in Spiral Dynamics™).
Almost all religious denominations in the developed world are in decline. The issue is not the irrelevance of spirituality as such, rather it is the irrelevance of the models used to present spiritual and religious teachings to modern and postmodern people. This presentation explores the current dynamics and presents approaches which are more likely to be successful in growing spiritual community. These include taking an evolutionary approach to spiritual leadership, teaching spiritual principles from a more modern perspective, and bringing spiritual community into compassion-based engagement with the larger community and the world.
The presentation will engage the audience to participate.

The power of empathy – a workshop on Nonviolent Communication

To create sustainable communication and relationships is crusial in building trust and having influence. People are ready to change and commit when they hear new perspective from sources the trust. One of the most powerful sources for change are us humans. Throughout history we have seen how people ha been ready to make big sacrifices and accomplishing great things out of trust in others. Empathic competence is one of the most trust building skills you can aquire. This workshop will help you develop your ability to listen to others with empathy. When people experiencing empathy and being understood they are more open to listen to others.
In this workshop we will explore the fundamentals of Nonviolent Communication and how it can be applied in every area of your life. After this workshop you will have the tools necessary to better understand people as well as express your self.

Map your way to Teal

How can an amber, orange or green organization move toward Teal? What are the necessary (r)evolutionary steps it needs to take to make the transition as short as possible without losing its entire workforce or disrupting its operation completely?

The Reinventing Organizations Map assessment tool helps coaches, trainers and business leaders make conscious decisions about the next step by providing a detailed, clear view of the organizational consciousness levels and its correlations to put the company into an upward spiral toward Teal.

Come and join us on this experiential workshop where you’ll draw your own organization’s consciousness map and can brainstorm with other integral minds how to move toward Teal or how to improve the open source assessment tool.

Embodied knowing – a compass on the journey towards wholeness and purpose in organisations

Many organisations feel drawn to more empowering, agile and purpose-driven processes. However, they soon tend to bump up against the ontological assumptions of the current level of consciousness: How can we be accountable if we haven’t got things ‘under control’? What value do I add if I don’t know the answer? While some organizations make all possible efforts to hold up an illusion of control, for others the VUCA world might be a stepping-stone towards a new level of consciousness where letting go of control in the old way enables tapping into new forms of knowing and creating. This session offers a space to experiment with embodied practices to tap into inner knowing and connect to deeper levels of identity and purpose. We will explore how we can embrace ‘not knowing’ and come to understand in new ways, using embodied and systemic practices. We will look at intuition as a potential compass towards purpose and sharpen our antennas for what wants to emerge from the collective field.

Love: An Experiential Journey Through Teal and Beyond

This experiential journey of love combines embodied practice with the latest research on love that identifies key changes as we progress along our evolution of consciousness. Understanding our own cosmic address along the evolutionary line of conscious development allows for increasing breadth of love experiences and the next evolutionary challenge and bliss to come. Understanding the cosmic address of others provides the ability to match and deepen our interpersonal love spaces and avoid suffering that occurs when developmental love languages collide or silently miss each other as they pass through the field. Combining depth practices, breadth practices and height practices, this journey promises to be a quick but deep dive into the evolutionary progression of love. Be prepared to touch and be touched (using appropriate boundaries) Come solo or with your own partner if you wish. Bring open minds, comfortable clothes and loving hearts and we will celebrate the joy of love together.

Choose One

Choose One is a raw, intimate dance-theater production that sets up Lauren Beale and Brooke McNamara (Creators/Performers) in a context both fabricated and completely real. Instructing the audience that at the end of the show they must vote between Lauren and Brooke – who gets to stay and who has to go – the performance becomes a navigation of the pressure of wanting to be chosen and not wanting to be separated. In this real-time dilemma, which echoes the reality of choice and consequence, separation from those we love, and connectedness that transcends having to say goodbye, an array of competitive strategies and coping mechanisms are humorously, tenderly, and tragically revealed. Through dialogue, dance, and improvisation, the performers’ presence and humanity are under demand, as they compete, enter conflict, surrender and let go into vulnerability. Eventually, an experience of bare realness and oneness is discovered.

How do we make this crucial leap? The transition from Green to Yellow

In this article I describe how we can see that the transition from First Tier to Second Tier – and more specific from the Green stage to the Yellow/Teal one – is taking place in individuals, organisations and in society. Clare Graves anticipated the ‘momentous leap’ and various people (like Ken Wilber) state that now we somehow are at the start of this happening. My question is: how can we experience and see that we are making this leap and that we’re not still struggling in Green, wishing we were already at the other side of this gap.

The Integral Agile Transformation Framework: A Compass for Raising Consciousness in Organizations

As corporations continue to rapidly evolve, we must develop revolutionary ways to transform organizations. There is an imperative for today’s leaders to raise their consciousness to a higher order of thinking, to break away from their conventional methods – to wake up to the call for leaders to create workplaces where people can contribute to a higher purpose. Humanity and Planetary issues are forcing leaders to re-imagine their orgs – their products, values, and contribution to society and the planet. Organizational transformations have been failing, losing out to those organizations whose leaders have figured out how to shift their worldview and lead from an outcome-creating place.

In this session, we will explore the path of raising organizational consciousness, starting with leaders, using the Integral Agile Transformation Framework as a compass. As we look through the lens of each quadrant, you will get a view into how to consciously go about designing for transformation on the path from Delivery Agility, to Business Agility to Integral Agility.

Integral Dance of Life offers the richness of 50.000 years of human life in a 2,5 h long danced and enacted experiential journey through stages of evolution, guided by a soundtrack and some words.

The Integral Dance of Life is Theory made Experiential. To be enjoyed through body, feelings, vocal expression and interactive theatre; to be understood and integrated through meditative-reflective interludes. To be expanded through sharing.

To the integrally informed, the process can be an inventory; how well rooted and free are your first tier stages? Where might shadow appear? Tickling your awareness with sound might reveal stunning insights your thinking mind wouldn’t reach in years.

Cavemen and Clans women, come and live your Attila the Hun & Cleopatra of Ancient Egypt, mightiest rulers of the world? Go on chanting with your brother Buddhist monks and pray with your sisters of Holy Mary? Did you ever get to free slaves and bring democracy? When did you last dig the Summer of Love, sis? Peace, man, peace! What brought you to this Integral European Conference? Where do you go from now?

This, and more can and will be experienced. Move, enjoy and liberate.

What it takes to be fully human: including & expanding African wisdom in the developmental framework of leadership maturity

The presenters, who have worked with this framework in the African context, will share their exploration of, & to, looking through the lenses of the ego maturity framework (LMF), to include, transcend, & expand on the polarity tension of the I & the We. Ubuntu is viewed as a possible integrating narrative for world-centric orientation from the African perspective: the paper will take into account the populist view of privileging the collective in the African worldview, and that of the individual in the Western worldview. Ubuntu philosophy often stands in stark contrast to egoic behaviours, actions, practices, views of development, of maturity, of spirituality & politics. The LMF is viewed as a valuable lens through which to make meaning of interpretations of the African worldview, & Ubuntu is viewed as a valuable & necessary inclusion to the integral narrative for it to be truly inclusive & comprehensive ‘theory of everything’.

Large-scale Energetics: An Experiential Exploration of Working with the Subtle Energetic Architecture of Place and Organisation

Much has been published about the interaction between energetic fields and human consciousness. 28 years of research at Princeton University’s Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) project showed beyond statistical doubt that human intention impacts otherwise random events. Yet very few practices have emerged that apply these concepts to our natural ecologies, organisations and communities in these times of transition.
This workshop will combine short conceptual introductions to some basic concepts of energy with experiential exercises where participants get to perceive and interpret the energy of the place we are located and the organisation that is hosting us. Participants will also experience interaction with PEAR’s Random Event Generator technology, seeing their collective intention reflected on the screen at the front of the room.

Volution: An integrative theory of the holographic and trans-linear dynamics of life

Volution: An integrative theory of the holographic and trans-linear dynamics of life. The idea that we as humanity have evolved in a linear process over time is probably one of the most widely accepted ideas across the human species.
However, over the last couple of years, I have come to question this perspective. An understanding of the science and geometry of the cosmos, including the dynamics of the torus which seem to be central to all life, together with body-energy research with Dylan Newcomb, have strengthened my belief that there is a more adequate perspective on our human reality that better reflects the fundamental dynamics of life.
This presentation unpacks my PhD dissertation, exploring the broader conceptual perspective and applies it to our human story.

Biotransenergetics: From practicing psychotherapy to a Self-Realization path

Biotransenergetics: From practicing psychotherapy to a Self-Realization path
Biotransenergetics is a psycho-spiritual discipline which promotes the full expression of our “intimate nature or spiritual essence”.
It doesn’t limit itself to the wellness, it wants love and confidence, freedom and honour, courage and responsibility to preserve the sacred power of the life and the natural forces.
It finds its roots in the “primary tradition”, fruit of the primordial yearning of the human being for understanding nature and harmonizing with it.
This original fit started the shamanism, the first “religions of nature”, which are amoral and ecstatic and believe in a “fundamental unity of creation”.
Biotransenergetics teaches the inner experience that is able to explore and master states of consciousness beyond dual mind and healing from inside.
Key words: Persistency of contact, Mastership of Transe, Zero, Field, Second Attention, Further Mode

Organisational Transformation in Africa – a spiral dynamics approach
through case study methodology and storytelling

During this presentation Rica and Ruan will share real life case studies in three different industries, of where spiral dynamics were used to lead to sustainable and lasting organisational change.

Three turnaround strategies are presented during this presentation. The case study of Absa Brokers, in the financial services industry is shared. Further; a Ghanaian case study in the mining sector are discuss. Lastly, the successful turnaround of a large private health organisation is shared through storytelling.

The inclusivity model of Viljoen, that integrates spiral dynamics as multicultural theory and Jungian psychology; were utilised as academic stance. The stories shared however highlight not only the difficulty experienced from a personal level during large scale change; but illustrates how an understanding of differences and the unleashing of voice in organisations can lead to sustainable transformation.

Actual return on investment statistics are shared. Further, the dynamic of dealing with millennials in the new world of work are presented. The importance to work from a second tier, inclusive leadership state during transformational efforts is highlighted.

During this presentation 3 real case studies will be presented. The actual issue, the intervention and the outcomes will be shared in the form of storytelling. Real life ethnographical stories will be shared.
A slide show with sound will be used.

Hero Writing: Integral Transformation Through Creative Writing

Explore an AQAL approach to generating rich ideas for a character’s developmental trajectory. Inquire into what both you as the author and the character could gain from a Hero’s Journey into the unknown. Toy with a 4 quadrant and state-focused approach to constructing the sentences, paragraphs and chapters that will bring the world of your story to life. Walk away with a story that has started and ideas to chew on. Previous writing experience is not required. Just come and discover what wants to be written.

Integral Theory for Kids: Scaffolding Complex Thought

A child’s capacity to engage at deeper levels is immense but rarely do we intentionally provide them with the tools or opportunity to do so. Learn 3 methods to scaffold complex thought in children including perspective taking and using the AQAL map from the point of view of a 9-year-old.

What can I do? Optimizing our contribution to a world in need

Participants will use multiple methods – including visualization, guided meditation, reflection and dialogue – to find their own unique answer to the question, “What is my optimal contribution?”

We are all painfully aware of the many dangers facing our societies and our world, and that awareness calls forth a desire to contribute. As integral practitioners, we know that optimal contributions will be multidimensional, considering all quadrants, and encouraging not only social change but also healing and maturation that is both psychological and spiritual, individual and collective. The key questions for each of us then become, “What can I do?” and “What is my optimal contribution?” In this workshop, participants will use multiple methods – including visualization, guided meditation, reflection and dialogue – to explore these questions and to find their own unique contributions.

The internal and external family: a guide to loving and effective developmental parenting inside and out

This family presentation will highlight assessment and practical solutions to internal and external family dynamics. It highlights some of the latest research in developmental theory and offers insightful applications in everyday practices with the internal collective and our family and relationship dynamics. We will explore repeating patterns and discuss similarities, differences and perceptual shifts that occur on our evolutionary journey with the internal and external collective, featuring later research and discoveries on repeating patterns, developmental clashes, trauma splits and our unique and genuine arising self. We will discuss how the Internal and external reflect upon each other, mirroring each other, giving clues to each other and how we can use internal clues to improve our external collectives and how we can use clues in our external collective to discover and improve our internal dynamics.

Using Artificial Intelligence to Score Meaning-making Development in Text

I will describe the StageLens project, which uses artificial intelligence (machine learning) methods to automatically score text. The StageLens computer model has been trained on human scoring data based on O’Fallon’s STAGES theory, an extension of the Loevinger/Cook-Greuter framework. The primary application is to score completions of the 36-item sentence completion test for ego development (also called meaning-making maturity and person-perspective capacity). I will also report on preliminary attempts to use the technology to score other types of text, including essay responses. Topics include: the accuracy of the current model; how low-cost developmental assessment opens up applications of developmental theory to new areas; and ethical considerations in making developmental scoring more widely available.

The Real Work of Teal

Evolution is both simultaneously exciting and painful. As the organizational fabric starts to change, many employees find themselves at odds. It’s no longer possible to hide behind bureaucracy, management, and our professional masks. This new of working calls upon each person to grow and evolve with it. There is a call to step into deeper vulnerability, deeper agency, and deeper listening. There is a call for deeper leadership across the organization.

In my experience, there is deep resistance and sometimes a lashing out as people work through their discomfort. This is the first time in millennia that we’ve called the interior dimensions (UL, LL) forward for everyone in an organization, not just the leaders. This is the first time that vertical development becomes crucial not optional.

How do we support individuals and the collective through the growing pains? What conversations and practices can we engage across the four quadrants to support the organizational transformation?

The great dance on the mountainside: The coherent evolutions of leadership, management, economics, politics, and religion

How everything works together in the integral world? We know that evolution of thinking is inseparably connected with evolution in other quadrants. What exactly is being held when all four quadrants are evolving — not synchronously, but catalyzing and facilitating each other? The presentation includes brief review of coherent evolutions of leadership, management, economics, politics, technology, religion, identity, etc. based on latest insights in these sectors. How all these things dance together? What managers, entrepreneurs, economists, politicians and religious leaders can learn from integral theory? How to change not only yourself — but your organization and your country in the volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world with red waves, blue walls, orange stairs, green roofs and purple air?

The “Past Life” Paradox – Epistemological and Therapeutic Problems Arising from Past Life Regression Cases

Therapeutic past life regression cases bring up great epistemological challenges for practitioners and consciousness researchers alike. They are hard, if not impossible to verify or put into a proper theoretical framework. Thus, it is tempting to simply dismiss them. However, there are reasons for studying these cases further: 1) suggestive evidence found through investigations into children’s past life memories and 2) the therapeutic relevance of these cases. This paper analyses the usefulness of past life regressions within Ken Wilber’s AQAL model, presenting original research conducted through the author’s own therapeutic practice. It concludes that the impact of past life work in all quadrants is highly level-sensitive: On lower levels of consciousness dealing with past lives quickly becomes a vehicle for “death denial,” but on certain higher levels it can become a catalyst for conscious evolution, and even a tool to overcome the idea of a Self which incarnates (hence a “paradox”).

Integral Consciousness as Trans-Symbolic: Towards an Integral View

What is Integral Consciousness? Through an exploration of Jean Gebser, Tibetan Buddhism, and We Space, this paper proposes a few fundamental constituents of any genuinely Integral View.

This paper proposes that Integral Consciousness is axiomatically Awake, and Intersubjective. Starting from Jean Gebser’s distinction between Mental and Integral, the paper introduces the process of “Reality Location”: the symbolically-mediated, embodied process of identity construction, as being the core activity of Mental consciousness. The work of Dr. Jeffery Martin provides a basis for the introduction of Non-Symbolic Consciousness, and the Tibetan Buddhist lineages of Dzogchen provide a living example of a Non-Symbolic lineage, while also contributing features of a Trans-Symbolic View. The author’s original research provides the basis for introducing intersubjective awakeness, and proposing that ‘Intersubjective Awareness Practices’ are fundamental for making transparent the processes of symbolically mediated identity. The aim is to present an Integral View: a trans-symbolic View/Practice/Fruit as the core activity of Integral Consciousness.

Surf the Enlivening Edge

Enlivening Edge is an international community drawn together by a shared purpose—to nourish the evolution of the ecosystem of people, organizations and social systems “inspired by the next stage of human consciousness.” Frederic Laloux wrote about our site, “It’s a great resource to stay current and be encouraged by what’s unfolding.” That’s very much what we continue offering with this workshop, and let you peek into our projects, e.g. our Facebook group, the EE Association, our Learning Products, Community Conversations, and the formation of a social enterprise.
In this workshop, you can not only learn about EE, but also network with other readers and contributors, and help us listen to what the Teal ecosystem wants us to become. In the process you will hear surprising stories of real-world transformation, illuminated by portraits of leading practitioners, practice “ecosystems thinking” about where the movement is heading, and explore ways you can get involved with our work.

An Integral Sustainable Design (ISD) approach to human inhabitation of architectural spaces

An integrally-informed, Wilber-influenced approach to expanding the study of occupant behaviour beyond building science. Occupants are a main reason why predicted and actual building energy performance deviate significantly. Existing research focuses on UR approach. This research project develops an integral methodology for transdisciplinary inquiry of occupants’ experience and action in architectural space (see support graphics), with regard to their experience of nature and natural forces. Each quadrant has two research questions; each question, a method from architectural design, building science, cultural theory, place phenomenology or social psychology. Spatial-temporal patterns form an integrating frame among perspectives. Example (UL): What are the patterns of individual occupant experience? Method: cognitive mapping, wearable video analysis, speak-aloud protocols. We conclude with defining hypotheses for architectural inhabitation from sixteen prospects (Kosmic addresses).

Ken Wilber, Trump and a Post-Truth World, The Religion of Tomorrow (let me know if you need the summary to be longer or shorter….)

There you go. And by the way, I will deliver it at 6:30am my time, so we’ll be able to get this thing off to a great start!!

Feed Your Vow // a Poetry Performance

Brooke McNamara shares poetry written from the body of a dancer, mind of a zen monk, and heart of a mother. In this reading she opens a timeless beauty for listeners by encountering our everyday world with fiercely loving eyes and a powerful, compassionate voice. McNamara’s poems befriend their audience with a voice that speaks straight to their heart, inviting them to feel seen, challenged, loved and woken in a way they might not be anywhere else in their lives. Her poems exist to remind and activate the felt sense of undomesticated Love for readers – nurturing love, motherly love, erotic love, humorous love, perfectly imperfect human love, and boundless divine love – all animating the extraordinary and ordinary alike.

Forming a We Presence – What We Can Learn from Musicians

In his essay, Making Music Together, Alfred Schutz examined the social interactions between participants in the musical process. The key concept in Schutz’s essay is the mutual tuning-in relationship, which encompasses the relationship between I and Thou, forming a We Presence. The mutual tuning-in relationship “originates in the possibility of living together simultaneously in specific dimensions of time.” Schutz argued that performers and listeners step into the stream of the composer’s consciousness by sharing temporal dimensions during a musical performance. This workshop is based on phenomenological research conducted at the Cleveland Institute of Music in collaboration with the Cavani String Quartet. The members of the Cavani Quartet teach several specific rehearsal techniques to their students which elicit a We presence. Participants will be invited to experience musicians’ practices, which include mirroring and movement to music which form a We Presence.

Holoscendence and Integral Meditation

Integral Meditation (IM) is a practical framework of meditation and contemplation proposed by Ken Wilber that utilizes the components of the AQAL model for Waking Up, Growing Up, and Showing Up. Here it is shown how IM is integrated within Holoscendence, a meta-paradigm of Integral practical psychology developed by Sergey Kupriyanov, MD, Phd in Medicine (Helsinki, Finland). This practical synthesis allows to enjoy a profound process of flowing states of consciousness, combined with a unique technique of mindful awareness that is unknown to Western practitioners (with only few exceptions) and implemented in the meditative system of Holoscendence. The practitioner cultivates a form of multidimensional awareness that integrates various fields within silent/empty awareness (sensory fields, subtle fields, interpersonal fields, etc.) in a simultaneous realization of an all-quadrant integral event which is both uniquely finite and arising in the endless Now moment of transtemporal presence.

Moving from the groundless ground, leadership beyond self – Lessons learned from 12 years of Generating Transformative Change

As we awaken and grow into expanded states and stages of consciousness, existing ideas of leadership dissolve into fresh and radical views of what it means to take responsibility for our collective future together. This true fullness of self can only emerge when we release sole identification with the individual concrete and subtle ego in favor of identification with ever-present awareness as the ground of our existence, and when we release sole identification with concrete and subtle collectives and we embrace the whole of evolutionary existence, aware of our collective responsibility to one another. This being and action in the world arises naturally as a creative spark from awareness of awareness itself, a gift from what might be called the source, which our subtle and concrete capacities can bring into being for the benefit of all sentience. We share learning, experience and practices from over 12 years of exploring this practice in our transformative leadership programs.

Conscious Life – Peaceful Death

In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, birth, old age, sickness and death are considered to be the main sufferings of human beings. The causes of suffering are the inner mind poisons: clinging, aversion and delusion. One method counteracting this is the meditation on impermanence, which leads to an understanding of emptiness. The Buddhist teachings also give precise information on the gross and subtle dissolution of the body during the dying process and the interval (bardo) between death and the next incarnation. All this can be very helpful in preparation for one’s own death, to have greater appreciation of this precious human life and in helping others.

Looking after olld, sick and dying people can be a great practice to develop compassion and overcome the fear of death. I have accompanied quite a few people on this mysterious journey, including both my parents. Now I am not a child any more, nor a mother – but of an age to be a grandmother to those who need one.
While I was looking after my parents, the idea of creating humane living conditions for humans has been growing in me. I would like to explore with you how we can restore the ability to live in a way that is appropriate for all generations and deal with sickness, nursing, dying in a natural way.

Large scale revitalization of important acupuncture areas in Hungary and other parts of Europe

Studies of Center for ECOintention, presented at the IEC 2016, show the importance of the energetic condition of Hungary, Central Slovakia and Southern Poland for the health of Europe. 2017 three large scale projects were developed in areas with a high transformation potential that can positively effect the present situation. The projects are in the Bükk National Park (HU), the Duna-Ipoly National Park (HU) and in the West Beskyde Mountains (P). Center for ECOintention started remote balancing of the projects in co-operation with the Club of Budapest and local guardian groups, who affirm the energy at site and direct it with their intention. The Bükk guardian group is led by Szandra Vereb and the Duna-Ipoly group by Cili Lohasz. This workshop includes the story of the work and gives an update of the development of the projects by the Hungarian guardians and Center for ECOintention. Visitors experience the energies of the projects and are invited to join the EEP in other parts of Europe.

What does it take to work with whole systems?

Next stage organisations requires a significant shift in the way we think about and go about our mission, indeed, many of us will already be well aware that our thinking has changed and we are sensing new possibilities.

It’s critical that we learn to see and work with the whole systems that are both internal and external to our organisations, we need to understand how they work and develop the ability to work with them. This requires new and different conversations about how we develop to meet these new challenges.

In this highly participative workshop we will identify and explore how our existing systems are operating, how we become more conscious of what is working and what is not, and how we can identify and meet the call of the larger eco-system. We will then look at a new capability development framework and discuss it in the context of the key factors as we have experienced them.

Where is the transpersonal movement at and how does it relate to integral?

2018 is the 50th anniversary of the field of Transpersonal Psychology, to which Ken Wilber was involved at the beginning of his work, making seminal contributions, before he created and developed the integral movement. In this presentation we will explore where is the transpersonal movement at the present moment and how does it relates to the integral movement. Which are the similarities and differences between both fields? Can they collaborate in a synergic way, becoming allies of evolution?

Creating awareness through visibility of organisations going Teal

Having inspiring leading edge Teal examples around the world is very important. But just as important is raising the awareness on the growing amount of much less visible organisations and initiatives which pop up everywhere. Laloux estimated that Teal organizations will be mainstream by 2026. We, the Teal Organisations Mapping team, an initiative of Enliveningedge, want to speed this up by providing a platform for visibility of all organisations active in the Teal paradigm. In this workshop, we want to show you the results of the project so far, and tell why we do what we do and how we got to where we are. But we also want to involve you!
* Self organisation, with examples such as Holacracy have received quite some attention. But how can we make Wholeness & Evolutionary Purpose practices more visible to a wider audience?
* How can you help raise the awareness in your own community?
* Does adding the label ‘Teal’ help or harm?

Circling: The growth of an International practice movement grounded in Integral Philosophy.

I am going to tell some cool stories about the growth of Circling and make some bold claims about it’s power and beauty.

We’ll share how Circling and Surrendered Leadership have taken us on an amazing journey of crazy trust and high energy that can provide some exciting stimulus and inspiration for the Integral community. The philosophy holds ‘Connection’ at its centre—in the moment and paradigmatically as it continuously evolves to incorporate the wisdom of many modalities. The practice can be seen as a form of integral embodiment in the moment and in relationship. It has grown rapidly around the world in recent years and is leading to profound growth for many. It’s grounded in Integral philosophy and is inspiring many people to learn about Integral Theory yet Integral theory is not formally part of the practice.

An Integral-Participatory Vision of Spiritual Evolution

A legion of scholars and religious figures—from Kukai to Zaehner to Wilber to the current Dalai Lama—situate different spiritual goals as steps toward what they consider to be the ultimate realization (e.g., God, nonduality, emptiness). These hierarchical gradations of traditions are arguably prey of spiritual narcissism, understood as deep-seated belief in the universal superiority of one’s favored spiritual choice, path, or account of ultimate reality. This presentation explores how to avoid spiritual narcissism and sectarianism in spiritual evolutionary models without falling in pernicious relativisms. Eschewing dubious equations among spiritual paths and ultimates, participatory integralism embraces a “more relaxed” spiritual universalism—one that affirms an undetermined mystery as the creative source of the multiverse’s manifold spiritual worlds, while simultaneously providing resources for discernment in spiritual matters. The presentation concludes with a number of strategies to minimize—perhaps even overcome—spiritual narcissism and sectarianism in spiritual evolutionary models.

Integral approach to Nonviolent Communication

Nonviolent Communication shows us a way of being very honest, without any criticism, insults, or put-downs, and without any intellectual diagnosis implying wrongness. NVC serves our desire to increase our ability to live with choice, meaning, and connection; connect empathically with self and others to have more satisfying relationships; sharing of resources for so that everyone is able to benefit.
Nonviolent Communication = mindfulness when you open your mouth and start communicating with another human being or any age, race of social strata.
It integrates 4 things:
Consciousness: a set of principles that support living a life of compassion, collaboration, courage, and authenticity;
Language: understanding how words contribute to connection or distance;
Communication: knowing how to ask for what we want, how to hear others even in disagreement, and how to move toward solutions that work for all;
Means of influence: sharing “power with others” rather than using “power over others”.

Often downloading the Integral Map is not enough to create nurturing connections and live more peacefully even (or especially) with the closest ones. Thus the skill of being able to connect and communicate with people throughout all spectrum becomes crucial for everyone.
Nonviolent Communication helps you resolve your deepest conflicts within yourself and with others through the power of empathy. There are times when we find ourselves resorting to criticism, insult, and blame when trying to resolve conflicts, which only leaves everyone hurting, angry, or depressed.
Participants of the workshop will get acquainted with a simple method for clear, empathic communication, consisting of four areas of focus:
Observations
Feelings
Needs
Requests
Participants will also have a deep dive into learning the phenomenon of empathy. They will be able to witness the demonstration of an empathic listening session with an experienced NVC trainer and mediator.

The 5 Chairs experience: Conscious Behaviours for Integral Living

Successful living depends primarily on the way we manage our behaviours, moment-to-moment. Our behaviours impact everything we do; the way we live, love, work, parent and lead. They create the atmosphere of our workplaces, the climate of our homes and the culture of our society at large.
– How aware are we of the impact our behaviours have on other people and the environment?
– Are our behaviours serving us well?
– Are we in control of our emotions or do they often control us?
– How are we leading ourselves and our relationships in every moment ?
– Are we facing those difficult conversations or are we avoiding them?
The 5 CHAIRS addresses these questions head on. Described by many as a life-changing experience, the 5 Chairs act as a behavioural compass for us, mirroring our daily reactions and forcing us to track what we’re thinking, what we’re feeling and how we’re behaving in any given moment. The ultimate aim of the Chairs is to bring us into more conscious living.

Growing Older at Any Age

Aided by still slides from our many video interviews (full guest list at TheWisdomFactory.net) we explore what growing older is revealing itself to be, a process that begins in the womb and continues sometimes smoothly, sometimes not, throughout life. Some changes are “simply” biological (birth, puberty, menopause, etc.), others happen within a supportive (or not!) social context.
While huge additional numbers of older than 65’s (“traditional” retirement agers) not only change the economics of pensions and medical care, we now know that as a group, older people are generally happier than younger people (not at all what the young project!) Residential arrangements go far beyond the traditional retirement “communities” or the not yet extinct “warehousing” approaches of many public facilities. Rather, the elderly are now a political bloc who actually VOTE, demanding a mature say in how they will live rather than accepting the designs of young bureaucrats. Can we live to 150 or more?

Designing relationships to Nature

The paper investigates, “How can buildings place people into rich, significant relationships with Nature?” It looks at ideas of what people think Nature and energy are and their concomitant intentions, seen via narratives and dominant nature metaphors, manifested as design responses and solutions—via five worldviews. Architecture is a powerful mediator of the relationship between humans and Nature, one that we inhabit. However, contemporary sustainable design takes a prospect on Nature dominated by performance, a valid but limited approach that leaves out ecological pattern, human experiences, and the cultural meaning of “connecting to Nature.” Alternate worldviews see Nature differently: Traditional (primal force and structure), Modern (resources and services), Postmodern (community), Integral (complex living systems) and Transpersonal (access to unity of Spirit). They find different valid solutions to design-with-nature; integrally-informed architecture can access them all.

THE INTEGRAL LENS (Acad)

In this paper, we explore an integrally-informed, Wilber-influenced approach to architectural photography’s many variations. Using historical examples, we examine four fundamental perspectives (quadrants) of the eye (UL), view (LL), frame (UR), and practice (LR). Each quadratic perspective is unpacked for four domains: the photographer, making of the photograph, the photograph itself, and viewing the photograph.

We consider the development of architectural photography using examples across worldviews from traditional, modern, postmodern and integral. Levels and Quadrants are intersected to reveal 16 prospects and the concerns of each. We define types in different quadrants, focusing mostly on the distinctions of documentary, editorial, and fine art forms. These various elements are combined in different ways to explain major movements and schools, illustrated with examples.

We conclude with defining integrally-informed architectural photography with examples.

Provoke Organizational Movement With or Without permission

What is the ultimate paradox of TEAL transformation? Do you really need permission, or can you do it anyway?

Play an interactive and collective game, based on real life experience, that will help you to understand that anyone in a company has the right to provoke change.

Collaborate with gaming partners to build a movement of transformation. Learn how there is no difference between social change and corporate change.

Use non-violent and corporate hacking tactics to stimulate thought, feelings and action. Realize that in a complex system (life) all small actions have an influence on the system at large.

You are all the power; become what you are.

Feedback as a daily practice. Do you want to grow more conscious of your idealizations and be able to loosen your fixations to certain self-identities?

With an intentional practice we can become more fluent and skilled in giving and receiving feedback. In that way we can see feedback as a sign of compassion and care, that creates a we-space.
In doing so, we might grow more conscious of our idealizations and be able to loosen our fixations to certain self-identities.
In many working places feedback is not a deliberate practice. The risk is, that we either shy away from speaking clearly or we tend to burst out our feelings, when we finally speak.
By working intentionally with feedback teams we can mature this skill – both as an intra- and interpersonal practice that supports the overall intention of the organization, team or community.
To practice feedback is also a wonderful opportunity to work with the I-perspective (1st person), the You-perspective (2nd person) and the It-perspective (3rd person).

The Emotional self – awareness and expression

All the recent researches the field of wellbeing are showing how important is the level of Emotional intelligence. Two very important elements of this kind of intelligence are Emotional Self awareness and Emotional self expression. In this workshop the participants will have the opportunity to learn about these two domains in a very alive and full of personal experience way.

The expression of spiritual leadership in the medium-sized businesses with particular focus on Lithuanian context

The empirical research performed in Lithuania medium-sized businesses provided information on managers’ spirituality level and allowed to identify specific attributes of organisational culture. The study gives a detailed discussion of the expression of spiritual leadership attributes in Lithuanian medium-sized businesses, evaluates spirituality levels of top-level managers in the same segment of companies, and identifies cultural attributes of businesses led by spiritual leaders. The interpretation of the results is done by linking cultural attributes of spiritually-oriented organisations with qualities of the integral model of leadership, thus describing the expression of spiritual leadership in the culture of Lithuanian medium-sized businesses.

Evolution in the Psychosexual Line

The presentation shows first results of our study of evolution in the psychosexual line, both personal and in society. Through personal practice and in exchange with experts in various spheres of action worldwide, we are drawing a wider picture, an overview and a vision for a healthy psychosexual development. We like to share this and find allies in the integral community for further studies in this important but still tabooed topic. Our overview is based on the integral map, which allows to identify best practices, potentials, gaps or obstacles for further evolution in this field.

The Perennial Fallacy of Developmental Altitude: Enhancing Your Developmental Acumen

Many of us are employing and working with less mature understandings and applications of developmental theory. As a result, our engagements with the people and organizations we work with often suffer. Unknowingly we negatively impact our own well-being. While our intentions may be good, the interventions we employ can have far reaching developmental implications that may not serve the people, groups and organizations we work with.

This presentation is a first step toward enhancing, refining and maturing our collective developmental acumine. We focus on enacting more of your own human elegance in how you understand and work with development. Participants shift their thinking away from the idea that people are “at” or “in” a stage of development. A more accurate and nuanced view of dynamic developmental processes is fostered. Pragmatic Neurological and biological supports are supplied to unlock greater efficacies in how you foster your own and other people’s development.

Engaging Wholeness with the Thinking Environment

“In order to think for ourselves, we have to think AS ourselves.”
– Nancy Kline

In a Thinking Environment the thinker is in charge at any given moment. And can take more robust, integrally informed and wise decisions and actions.
In this workshop the participants will collectively experience and create a Thinking Environment (TE) for each other. The theoretically basis will be given and via various individual and group exercises the participants will get to know how it is not to listen to respond, but to listen to enable the finest whole-body thinking in others, so that they can think completely independently, considering what is really important to them. TE evens allows to work with shadow issues and limiting assumptions on individual and on group level.
By that, the thinker is encouraged and empowered to go beyond dualities and relative truths, but really connect to the whole and absolute truth.

Integral Music: Presentation; Full Spectrum Dance Meditation; and Integral Oratorio

Three parts. 1) Presentation on Integral Music. Musical excerpts for each LEVEL of the spectrum of consciousness. QUADRANTS: how the LEVEL of consciousness of the composer (UL), conveyed thorough the music (UR), interacts with the consciousness of performers and audience (LL) and performance ‘container’ (LR). Music can induce peak STATE experiences. How experience of music is affected by strengths in different LINES. 2) Full Spectrum Mindfulness Meditation (as in KW’s book, ‘Integral Meditation’). Inspired by great music, dance (recommended, or sitting) each level of the Spectrum of Consciousness in turn, ‘Witnessing’ between. 3) Presentation on Steve’s Integral Oratorio, with excerpts. Probably the first piece of its kind in history, it is an Integral Communion: the audience participates actively to enter sacred Integral space. It is a work-in-progress, and Steve is looking for support (including financial) to help bring the piece to its first public performance.

The Universe of Advanced Human Consciousness: Four Later Stages

This workshop describes the present research and initial descriptions and person experiences of four late levels of development in a MetAware tier

The four stages, 5.0 (Construct Aware), 5.5 Transpersonal, 6.0 (universal or Higher Mind), and 6.5 Illumined arise out of inter-rater, longitudinal and qualitative research, and are compared to descriptions from the respected Integral Sage, Aurobindo. These three different approaches provide a triangulation of research methodologies that provide some initial credibility to these new stages and point to the boundaries of experience of these stages. Yet experience itself is the weft and warp of each developmental level. Exercises and case studies will be provided for an experience of these later stages,

Ken Wilber, Trump and a Post-Truth World, The Religion of Tomorrow (let me know if you need the summary to be longer or shorter….)

There you go. And by the way, I will deliver it at 6:30am my time, so we’ll be able to get this thing off to a great start!!

Lessons from the Collective We-Space to help Intimate Couples become 2nd tier explorers

Who’s in the room matters when a group of seekers is attempting to open up into a collective experience many evolutionary thinkers have found. This we-space becomes much more challenging for an intimate couple than it is for non-lovers for many reasons. For example, each person in an intimate partnership is very familiar with partner behavior originating from lower centers of gravity. These inconsistencies frequently erode feelings of trust if not viewed from a developmental perspective. Furthermore, the capacity to compartmentalize less than perfect experiences, an established rhythm between connection and separation, tolerance for exposure, transparency, and more, are all necessary to creating stable intimate 2nd tier intimate we-space. This presentation will translate the lessons learned from the collective experience into specific recommendations for the intimate couple with an emphasis upon integral community members who find themselves in 1st tier relationships.

The Emergence of the Higher We

The Higher We is a breakthrough practice for evolving integral culture. In this talk and workshop, Steininger and Debold will move from the historical/theoretical to the here-and-now of Higher We practice to explore the developmental implications of this new emergence in human consciousness and potential. Arguing that the growing attention to the “We” has evolutionary significance, they explore three different levels of “We” that call us to embrace an integrative developmental step further in our individuation – what they call “transindividuation.” By exploring the difference between the postmodern and this new level of human relatedness, the two will present lessons learned about the Higher We from their experience at EnlightenNext and guide the audience through key experiential distinctions that will give participants some sense of the consciousness space that is the Higher We.

What’s required now is courage

The world is in acute need of courageous leaders. Many of us are people leaders turn to for conversations. I believe a critical task of our times is for ourselves to lead with courage in our conversations with them. Where do we still participate in systems that, at some level, hurt our integrity? How can we speak to the pain we feel, and open up a space for leaders to get in touch with their pain?

This is a field I’m increasingly exploring in my own life, and I want to invite you in this exploration with me.

SECTIONS AND WORKSHOPS

Edgar Schein’s Organizational Culture and Leadership, as seen through the lens of the AQAL Framework (and the author’s eyes)

This paper describes Schein’s basic tenets of Organizational Culture and Leadership and examines the different types of organizational assumptions explored by Schein. Culture is contextual and lives within us as individuals as well as within groups of people. Schein’s tenets include shared assumptions, adaptation and internal integration, and socialization. He addresses how different cultures give different meanings to reality, truth, time, and space. In this paper, Schein’s tenets are mapped to the AQAL model, including discussions of Spiral Dynamics and Cook-Greuter’s Leadership Development Framework (SCTi-MAP). The paper raises interesting questions regarding adult development in relation to organisational culture and leadership.

Beyond the floor boards and the glass ceiling: working with stages of consciousness in a changing climate

Climate change is distributed massively across time and space, difficult to grasp cognitively, and almost impossible to directly experience. Meaning regarding climate change is made differently according to a diversity of perspectives. This presents a complex challenge to humanity–a challenge which continues to evade resolution despite the excellent scientific research, supportive intergovernmental processes, and growing citizen concern. Integral theory provides some important insights, particularly from its central tenant of developmental psychology, which is currently absent from the climate change discourse. This presentation will examine three reasons why developmental stages of integral theory are important in climate change: 1) to disclose why people make meaning of climate change so differently, which in turn could reduce conflict and assist in finding mutual understanding between worldviews; 2) to align better with the diverse spectrum of meaning-making and thus help in crafting pathways for adaptation from within each stage; and 3) to hold open the probability spaces for later developmental stages that are more commensurate with the full complexity of the issue. As such, not only does an understanding of stages help us to meet the challenge of climate change in a spectrum of ways across a developmental unfolding, but also staying in step with an issue like climate change could itself generate emergent ground for transformation.

Paradigm shift in clinical psychology

In this interactive lecture I will share my experiences about how can a psychologist work with transpersonal approach. What are the 3 phases of psychological work in my view? I. Psychodiagnostics II. Peak-experience that fits to the client III. Integrating the experiences. I will show this process through a case study.
Other therapists’ comments and questions are especially welcome that let us think together in order to integrate the transpersonal approach to clinical psychology.

Integral Business Innovation

UL: Business creativity and innovation are sparked if employees believe they are creative, curious and playful in finding solutions to an ardent problem which they consider is theirs.
UR: Business creativity and innovation are sparked when new neuronal connections are sparked, that is when your body shifts the way it receives information through the senses.
LL: Business creativity and innovation are sparked when different people socialise and share their insights in a free manner.
LR: Business creativity and innovation are sparked when there is a business framework defined by a strong overarching vision of a problem/ focus-question which employees are interested in solving.

What do you have to do as a leader to put up all these conditions for integral innovation to emerge? And what’s the integral definition of business innovation?

Towards an Integral Economics

Mainstream economic theory appears to be ill-equipped to deal with the ‘polycrisis’ currently facing humanity. This paper is an exploratory attempt to develop a more comprehensive and holistic conceptual framework for the study of economics, based on the ‘integral theory’ developed by Ken Wilber. The specific aims are threefold: (1) to broaden the assumptions about human nature and motivations, based on widely accepted models of psychological and moral development; (2) to show how the dominant approach to economic theory has evolved over time through distinct worldviews, which are pointing towards the emergence of an integral perspective; (3) and to demonstrate that socioeconomic development has historically unfolded in successive waves, which could lay the foundation for visions of more sustainable future socioeconomic systems.

Money and IT as new utilities

New organisational thinking can be complemented by a new way we think about digitisation and money in society. Thanks to blockchain a lot of buzz is around these opportunities. Let us put this evolution in a broader historical perspective. The way we have organised financial tools have always had an impact on the way organisations work and vice versa. Let’s face the organisational challenges we have these days and let’s explore what we can learn about history of finance and technology. So we design in the innovation space of EU GDPR, blockchain and edge computing for good.

Human Consciousness and the Integral Evolution of Human Rights

The evolution of human rights is fundamentally linked to the evolution of human consciousness, responding to the perennial questions of what it means to be human. However, generations of theorists have grappled with the origins of human rights that would provide a foundational theory. This holy grail of human rights theory must be holistic, universal, cross-cultural, focused on the individual and collective, timeless, and adaptable. Integral theory could be the answer by providing a conceptual map for unifying the multiple sources of knowledge for the long-sought foundation for human rights. The presentation will outline the content of Wilber’s quadrants that could satisfy an integral theory of human rights, with multiple insights from evolutionary and social psychology, the natural sciences, as well as the religious, philosophical, historical, and political sources. More coherence about how human rights evolve is of vital significance for contemporary and future politics.

Integral City 4.0: Evolving Placecaring & Placemaking in the Human Hive

This session considers the city (aka human hive) as Gaia’s Reflective Organ, though the lenses of bio-psycho-cultural-social realities. We explore the beehive as a lesson in complexity and the implications of the Master Code which guides human systems to “placecare and placemake” at 4 scales (self, others, place and planet). We will share case studies, maps, strategies and toolkits to examine the prospects of today’s cities as they evolve into the cities of the future. Out beyond the Traditional City, out beyond the Smart City, out beyond the Resilient City lives the Integral City. There is a Knowing Field – we will meet you there.

Psychedelics Supporting Stage Development

People can sustainably upgrade their life after even one session. Long understood mental concepts and desired states effortlessly integrate into a lived experience of Beauty, Truth and Goodness.

Psychedelics are no silver bullet, but can certainly be part of a well rounded Integral Life Practice for personal evolution. The interest in using entheogens (substances that “generate the divine within”) for this purpose is growing quickly, and with it opportunities for things to go both very right and very wrong.

In this session I share something of my own journey and a few anonymous examples from my practice. I guide and coach people that want to use psychedelic substances as a vehicle for self-discovery and transformation. You will learn how I implement the key elements of my Guided Tripping method: safety, fun, insight (state) and impact (stage).

These real-life experiences will be linked to the growing body of research, and put in Integral terms by viewing my clients’ results though the lens of various adult development models. There are also interesting effects on the level of development within their Enneagram type (e.g. from average to healthy expressions).

Is Integral Politics already possible in the Year 2018?

Since 12 Years a group of people in Switzerland trying to build up a new party and movement (Integrale Politik Schweiz)
The party was founded in Year 2011. With different actions and over different forms we are trying to Influence the the politics in Switzerland. The response and feedback is very little and disappointing. Are we too early, doing we the right things.
in the Workshop we will hear about the experinces from “Integrale Politik Schweiz” over the last years and we will ask together, if there new and different ideas to work from a integral perspective too creat more impact into the field of politics

Better organisations build better AI

AI will play a fundamental role future society. The decisions that matter are being made today in the way work and organisations are created and managed. Perhaps the integral and systemic approaches of the Teal organisation are the very thing that will lead the way to a better relationship with the emerging technology.

This workshop will provide a very basic introduction a foundation of Machine Learning – The Algorithm. We’ll explore the level of detail required to create these algorithms, take some time to understand what the data means, and share our thoughts on the implications these practices have on our ideas of Teal Organisations.

The workshop will comprise a set of group activities, open to all levels of technical skill, to explore a an essential aspect of the automation and AI using a fundamental programming tool: the index card.

The AI we create will mirror the systems that created it. How can Teal practitioners practically engage in building this future?

Want to Become Yellow – Embrace Beige the Forgotten Value System

‘Integral Hearth’ : Towards A Collective Integral Practice

1) Presentation: ‘Integral Hearth’ : Towards A Collective Integral Practice. A contemporary spiritual forum for people already into Integral; and for the ‘spiritual-but-not-religious’, an opportunity to try a spiritual practice which is rooted in rationality – ‘see for yourself’, rather than a faith, or creed. Potentially, the kernel of an Integral community that can serve the wider community.
1A) Reviewing our existing personal experience of collective spiritual practice (church service, Quaker meeting for worship, Buddhist retreats, ‘Jumu’ah’, etc). Positive and negative experiences.
1B) Steve presents the principles and format of ‘Integral Hearth’ as recently piloted in Totnes, England. An AQAL communal practice.
2) Experience the ‘Integral Hearth’.
3) Small group reflection on the experience; brainstorm ways in which it could be developed. Feedback to the whole group. Perhaps start a network of ‘Integral Hearth’ groups across different countries to share experience.

Integral researchers – still homeless in the academia

This report focuses on graduate students and professors using Integral theory as transdisciplinary research framework, at a western Canadian mainstream university. Data were collected from observations and reflections with a colleague, while teaching, supervising graduate students, and doing Integral research. Analysis, using the Integral Model, uncovered challenges facing Integral doctoral students and faculty members. While transdisciplinarity is becoming recognized, in mainstream academia disciplinary orthodoxies continue to rule. Not having a single disciplinary home, Integral academics do not fit into the traditional roles and their benefits. This applies both to professors and to graduate students. Integral students must continue to defend their research and professors must defend Integral teaching. Nevertheless, Integral academics report that the benefits of gaining an Integral world view and a more complex understanding of the world, still outweigh the challenges they face.

Capacity Development Evaluation: Towards an Integral Approach

In this presentation, Dr. Wanda Krause brings a dynamic approach to organizational capacity for flourishing and change through the results of her decade and a half evaluation study on women in civil society in highly turbulent environments and circumstances. What our world requires as we head into times of even greater turbulence is an integral approach to evaluate, navigate and lead human and organizational flourishing and socio-political change. To achieve sustainable development goals where individuals, organizations and societies flourish over the long term requires that we shift our thinking, practices and consciousness around control and power to values-based thinking, acting and collaboration. This dynamic integral evaluation approach in thinking and practice enables individuals a framework and tools to lead sustainable developmental change in increasingly complex contexts.
