In the age of AI and application of AI, what are the arguments for and against using AI in adult assessment scoring?

Situated within an Integral lens, we will take you on a journey to uncover how human-expert scorers are trained, and score adult development assessments (specifically Dr. Susanne Cook-Greuter’s Maturity Assessment Profile – MAP), and how our custom trained AI systems does it while significantly cutting down time (up to 10x) and reducing internal inconsistencies. A technical-scientific note is that our systems were independently validated by a team at Harvard at .94 correlation with human-expert scoring (stage-specific accuracy is 84% according to Harvard, and 85% on our data).

We will share with you our hope and vision for a just, and humane world; plus considerations in adopting technology to fu rther the human development field and to support practitioners not only sustain but also scale human development work, how to reduce biases, and developmental violence.

Can grand Western theories of human, social and cultural development such as AQAL and SD become ossified (frozen)? A view from the observation deck:
Much is powerful and illuminating in these theories. Yet they are no longer open to new data and alternative perspectives. They have become so widely distributed, they are now set in stone, inflexible like fossils. I shall show that this issue may have much to do with the early equating of stages of cultural, social and organizational development with stages of individual development. This assumption resulted in a conflation of personal and cultural-social development and a set of strange, unscientific use of colors.

Susanne has been keynote speaker at the first IEC in 2014, as well as 2018, and offered section presentations as well, at most in person and online conferences. This year she is not well enough to travel but will contribute her wisdom via zoom.

Lily Truong and Duncan Cryle will create a dialogue space for her in a hybrid format so that participants can reflect on her challenging ideas.

To help Dr. Cook-Greuter address your questions during the Q&A session (scheduled on May 29 from 15:30 to 18:00 CEST), and to help facilitators enhance your experience during that event, we invite you to share your questions ahead of time (please click here to access the form)Facilitators will stop collecting questions via this form before lunch time at 13:30 CEST on May 29, 2025. And of course, we welcome your questions during the live event.
