Ken Wilber
Integral Education for World Peace
In order to reach many people with an Integral View, we have to first find those people. One excellent place is the education process itself. Many colleges and universities in particular have specialized courses where particular topics in specific areas are offered, and students can sign up for them as an optional course. This is made to order for Integral Theory. As students sign up for these courses and learn Integral, it usually makes a deep impact on them, and they will carry it into whatever area they and up professionalizing in—the sciences, economics, psychology, arts, sociology, medicine, the history of warfare, politics, and even education itself, where they might create Integrally-informed courses in each of those areas, thus reaching hundreds of students. This would give students an Integral framework for understanding, among many other things, warfare itself, and most of all, reasons for not engaging in it and ways to halt it once it starts. The more of these students there are, the more people would be carrying the Integral View forward. And given that the percentage of people in general who are developmentally reaching an Integral stage of development, the more numbers of people this would indeed start to add up to.
Ken Wilber is the originator of the world’s first truly comprehensive or integrative philosophy, aptly named “Integral Theory.” As Wilber himself puts it: “I’d like to think of it as one of the first believable world philosophies” — something that is becoming increasingly necessary in order to navigate and thrive in today’s world.
He is the most widely translated academic writer in America, with 25 books translated into some 30 foreign languages. Ken Wilber currently lives in Denver, Colorado, and is still active as a philosopher, author, and teacher, with all of his major publications still in print.
Watch Sebastian Siegel’s movie, Grace and Grit, which tells the true story of iconic philosopher Ken Wilber and his wife Treya. Based on the acclaimed book chronicling Treya’s journals, they fall madly in love in 1980s California and are immediately faced with challenges that tear them apart. They overcome by discovering connection beyond this world and love beyond life.
