Unmasking Shame – Compassion and Connection

IEC Conference: 2025

Shame is a powerful, yet often hidden, force shaping human development, relationships, and societal structures. While often perceived as a personal emotion shaped by childhood or painful experiences, shame is deeply embedded in cultural narratives, power dynamics, language, and our evolving sense of self. This workshop will explore how shame manifests across different stages of adult development and how it can be transformed. We will use Liv’s model called “The Compass of Needs” to navigate how we can embrace shame (instead of avoiding it and thus often behave in a way that negatively impacts our communication and relationships).

This workshop includes practical reflections and exercises. Participants will get insights both on how to recognize and transform shame.
