Causal models of Growing Up: Insights & Practices

IEC Conference: 2025-pending

Adult development (“growing up”) has neglected modern statistics and AI. These methods, together with the largest dataset (>80K hand-scored responses), yield unique insights into vertical growth.

This talk will share practically applicable insights from this research after a primer on Ego Development Theory (EDT), pioneered by Dr. Cook-Greuter (our advisor). Just as bodies grow in physical space, adult development follows trajectories through a space of “maturity indicators” which
1) can be inferred from natural language,
2) are strongly predictive of established constructs (EDT stage, conflict style, EQ-i) as well as individual and collective performance (such as 360° feedback, promotion rates or salary growth), and
3) allow causal modeling to derive the deep structure of meaning-making and infer the most effective practices at any stage (or for any individual).
These insights can be used to design deliberate and effective vertical growth paths for personal growth as well as client work.

Tamas helps individuals and teams work and live from high-performance states of consciousness, using cutting-edge scientific tools such as AI-based neurofeedback. After a decade in cognitive and neuroscience research, a PhD in AGI (core contributor to the first computer model of functional consciousness), and leadership experience in management and AI consulting at McKinsey and Amazon, as well as years of study with senior meditation master Dr. Daniel P. Brown in the Mahamudra tradition, he has turned to researching the intersection between rigorous science and the world of higher states of consciousness, and is building tools based on the strengths of both worlds to facilitate human excellence and flourishing.
